| Tobacco, translated into Manchu as "dambagu",was introduced into the Northeast slightly later than Guannei. In Northeast China, tobacco was introduced into Liaoning and Jilin earlier than Heilongjiang.Based on the historical materials such as archives and local chronicles of the Qing Dynasty, this paper analyzes and combs the ways and hazards of tobacco introduced into the Northeast in the early Qing Dynasty, the tobacco policies implemented by the rulers, and the impact of tobacco introduced into the northeast.During the period of Nurhachi and Huangtaiji in the Qing Dynasty(later Jin Dynasty),tobacco was introduced into the northeast. There were three main ways of tobacco introduction into northeast China in the early stage, which were from Korea,Mongolia and the army of the Ming Dynasty, among which Korea was the most important way of introduction; The Ming army from Guangdong was brought in from the south of China, which was the first way to introduce tobacco into the northeast.Regionally, the tobacco in Liaoji area was introduced from Korea and Ming Dynasty, while the tobacco in Heilongjiang was introduced from Mongolia.During the reign of Huang Taiji, tobacco smoking began to be popular among Manchus(female immortals),and tobacco planting began to appear in Northeast China.Manchu(female immortal)smoking was not only harmful to their health, but also had a serious impact on the social economy of the Qing Dynasty(later Jin Dynasty). It also destroyed military discipline and weakened the combat ability of the army. Therefore, during the period of Huang Taiji,a smoking ban was once issued, but it was not stopped.Smoking became a living habit of Manchu people, tobacco planting was increasingly localized in Northeast China, and tobacco became the main commodity of Sino Korean trade.Tobacco tax was also set up in the Qing Dynasty, and tobacco also played a role in the politics and diplomacy of the Qing Dynasty(later Jin Dynasty). The development process of tobacco introduction and popularity in Northeast China reflects the development and changes of Northeast China in the Qing Dynasty.Although tobacco is different from opium,it is also easy to make people addicted and form dependence, which has a negative impact on the early social development of Manchu people; After the failure of smoking prohibition in the Qing Dynasty(later Jin Dynasty),the wide spread and planting of tobacco in Northeast China also changed the social and economic structure of Northeast China, which had a certain impact on the social and economic development of Northeast China; In the Qing Dynasty, the Manchu gradually formed the tobacco culture. The tobacco custom ran through the daily etiquette of the Manchu and gradually evolved into the folk custom in the northeast, which had a far-reaching impact on the life of the people in the northeast and gradually became a symbolic element of the local culture. The influence still exists today. |
