| In English learning,only by reading a great deal and accumulating certain vocabulary,phrases and sentences can people effectively output and improve their language ability and cultural quality.Therefore,English reading teaching in senior high school should not only focus on the mastery of knowledge and the acquisition of information,but also pay attention to the improvement of students’ reading ability and the cultivation of reading character,so as to develop their comprehensive quality and lay a solid foundation for their future study,life and work.English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 Edition Revised in2020)points out that high school English teaching should guide students to adjust their learning methods,improve their autonomous learning ability and cooperative learning ability,and equip them with the ability for lifelong learning.This requires that English reading teaching in senior high school should change the traditional teaching mode focusing on words and establish a new teaching mode that can meet the requirements of the new college entrance examination and cultivate students’ autonomous learning ability.Based on constructivist learning theory and meta-cognitive theory,this study adopts three research methods: literature research,questionnaires and experimentation.Taking the English classroom of senior one as the carrier,this study selects two classes of senior one students in a high school in Xi’an,Shaanxi Province to conduct autonomous learning strategy teaching.The study first investigated the students’ English reading literacy before the experiment through the pre-test,and then carried out autonomous learning strategy teaching in two classes.Therefore,the author puts forward two experimental questions:(1)what is the current situation of senior one students’ English reading literacy?(2)What is the effect of applying autonomous learning strategies to improve students’ English reading literacy in senior one English reading teaching? After the experiment,the data were sorted out and entered into SPSS20 for analysis.By comparing the differences of English reading literacy between the two classes before and after the experiment,this paper discusses the effect of autonomous learning strategy teaching on improving students’ English reading literacy.The findings of this study are as follows:(1)Senior high school students are poor in English reading literacy,especially in reading character.(2)Autonomous learning strategy teaching can effectively improve students’ English reading literacy,promote students’ reading ability,improve students’ reading habits and reading character.This study is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the research background and significance.The second chapter reviews the relevant research on English reading literacy,autonomous learning strategies and theoretical framework.The third chapter is the research design.The fourth chapter is the analysis of experimental results.The fifth chapter is the research conclusion,including the main findings,research innovations and limitations of this study. |
