Rural tourism destination is a complex regional "nature-society-culture-ecology" complex that not only encourages local economic development, but also has a number of negative effects on the local natural ecological environment, resulting in a reduction in environmental quality. At the same time, the process of rural tourism development involves a number of stakeholders, such as the government, enterprises, operators, community residents and tourists, and each stakeholder plays a different role and has different needs for tourism development. The eco-compensation for tourism is a market-based compensation tool, which can establish a check mechanism between relevant stakeholders and can also make up for the financial gap in the ecological protection process, ultimately achieving a balance between the healthy development of the tourism industry and the balance of the ecosystem.According to the geographical and operational characteristics of rural tourism development, local governments have less financial revenue, enterprises and business owners are small, and community residents are often in a vulnerable position,so tourists become the main force of rural tourism eco-compensation.This study uses questionnaires and mathematical and statistical methods to investigate tourists’ perception and its influencing factors in the major rural tourism areas in the Xi’an section at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains. The main research contents are as follows:(1)This study summarizes the eco-compensation policies and practices of rural tourism destinations in Xi ’an section at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains through field research;(2)This study evaluates and analyses the eco-compensation perception of rural tourism destinations in the northern foothills of the Qinling Mountains(subject of responsibility, object of compensation, source of compensation funds, intention of compensation, amount of compensation, and form of compensation)by questionnaire survey and statistical analysis;(3)This study uses binary logistic regression analysis and multiple linear regression to explore the factors affecting tourists’ perception of eco-compensation;(4)This study summarizes and analyses the results of research and mathematical analysis, and makes suggestions for the implementation of eco-compensation in rural tourism destinations at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains from six aspects of laws and regulations, subject and object, compensation methods, and guarantee and supervision system of tourism eco-compensation.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)At present, the term "tourism eco-compensation" has not been explicitly put forward in the relevant policy documents of the districts and counties of Xi ’an city, but the rural tourism destinations at the northern foot of the Qinling Mountains have carried out some primary and basic tourism eco-compensation practices.(2)The research on tourists’ perception of eco-compensation shows that the local government and tourism developers are the responsible subjects of eco-compensation for rural tourism destinations in the northern foothills of the Qinling Mountains;Tourism eco-compensation funds should be allocated by the government and extracted from the tickets of scenic spots.Tourism eco-compensation funds should be mainly used for the protection and restoration of local ecological resources and the improvement of tourism infrastructure. Most tourists are willing to pay for qinling north rural tourism ecological protection, the average payment amount is 35.21yuan/person,at the same time think tourism eco-compensation mode should be diversified, either by buying tickets for scenic spots, tourist products, pay cash compensation to vehicle tolls and parking fees, can also by participating in the green environmental protection action of non-cash compensation.(3)The factors influencing tourists’ perception of eco-compensation are explored, and it is found that motivation to recommend, knowledge of tourism eco-compensation policy, awareness of the need for tourism eco-compensation and gender are the factors influencing tourists’ willingness to pay eco-compensation.Income level, knowledge of the policy and travel rate are the factors that influence the amount of payment by tourists.(4)Based on the results of the study, the implementation suggestions of eco-compensation for rural tourism destinations in the northern foothills of the Qinling Mountains are put forward. It mainly includes: issuing corresponding policies and regulations on tourism eco-compensation as soon as possible, clarifying the subject and object of tourism eco-compensation,diversifying tourism eco-compensation methods, broadening the channels for raising tourism eco-compensation funds, strengthening the publicity and education of tourism eco-compensation,and improving the supervision and feedback mechanism of tourism eco-compensation.
