Abstract/Summary:
The growth of the mobile Internet has presented new possibilities for the development of psychological counseling, prompting a shift from offline to online counseling.Online counseling has mushroomed into the public view, making it easy for people to seek professional psychological services. In particular, the outbreak of COVID-19 at the end of2019 has pushed its development to a peak. However, numerous problems gradually emerged, such as privacy leakage, counselor information falsification, and poor counseling efficacy, hindering the use of online counseling by users. Therefore,to enhance the user utilization rate and promote the healthy development of online counseling,it is necessary to clarify influencing factors of users’ intention to use online counseling. In this paper, user values were identified by using a value-sensitive design approach.Subsequently, combining privacy theory, trust theory and technology acceptance model,a model of factors influencing users’ intention to use online counseling was constructed, which contains five main variables, involving perceived risk, reputation, user trust, perceived ease of use and use intention.Among them, perceived risk consists of privacy risk, service quality risk, counselor qualification risk and financial risk;reputation consists of perceived platform reputation and perceived counselor reputation.Based on this, the research hypothesis was formulated. Then,a questionnaire was developed and dispersed.Afterward, the collected data were subjected to reliability test, validity test, correlation analysis, and regression analysis.Additionally, hypothesis testing was performed. From the empirical study, this paper found that 1)privacy risk and service quality risk among perceived risk have a significant negative impact on user trust, while counselor qualification risk and financial risk have no significant impact on user trust;perceived platform reputation and perceived counselor reputation among reputation have a significant positive impact on user trust.2)privacy risk, service quality risk, counselor qualification risk and financial risk among the perceived risks have a significant negative impact on use intention, with privacy risk having the greatest effect and counselor qualification risk having the least effect;user trust and perceived ease of use have a significant positive impact use intention.3)user trust plays an incomplete mediating role in the influence of privacy risk and service quality risk on use intention, and do not play a mediating role in the influence of counselor qualification risk and financial risk on use intention.Accordingly, suggestions were proposed for the development of online counseling.
