Study On The Artistic Style Of Mary Cassatt's Painting

Mary Cassatt(1844-1926)is an outstanding female painter of impressionism and occupies an important position in the history of world art.Mary Cassatt’s artistic style combines the essence of eastern and western painting,she constantly explores the visual expression of decorative color,modeling expression and flat composition in her paintings,showing her unique artistic concept.Mary Cassatt portrays women in life as the theme of creation,her paintings of innocent and delicate girls,young women progressive and fashionable,loving and plain mothers,these paintings bear her eulogizes and praises to women,and also show us the greatness of ordinary life.This thesis takes Mary Cassatt’s artistic style as the research topic,which is divided into four parts: The first part combs Mary Cassatt’s life and artistic experience,and the evolution process of artistic style development and maturity;The second part,through the analysis of Mary Cassatt’s paintings,summarizes the characteristics of her painting expression language in color,shape and composition after absorbing the traditional academic modeling,impressionist light color and ukiyo-e prints;The third part of Mary Cassatt’s painting of the female image of the construction of an in-depth study,the profound expression of consciousness and spiritual transmission of her paintings;The fourth part,combined with the author’s specific creation practice,expounds the inspiration of Mary Cassatt’s painting language to the author’s creation from three aspects of theme selection,painting language and female image construction.
