This article takes the Chinese entity metaphor and its teaching as the research object.By comparing the metaphor expression form and cultural connotation of Chinese and Indonesian,to explores the similarities and differences in the culture and way of thinking between the two;The author analyzes the phenomenon of metaphor application errors,and puts forward teaching suggestions on Chinese entity metaphor.By comparing the characteristics of Chinese and Indonesian substantive metaphors,we find that the two have more significant characteristics.Compared with Indonesian,Chinese has three more significant characteristics,namely,a large number of idioms,phrases and other metaphorical entities in Chinese are derived from a certain historical allusion;Chinese has a significant concretization phenomenon;Chinese words are rich The "homonymous relationship",the use of words can often make people think of other meanings.In Indonesian entity metaphors,adding affixes to roots is often the main way for entity metaphors to obtain metaphorical meaning;overlapping or partial overlap of roots is also one of the ways to derive metaphorical meaning.The main cultural factors that affect the difference between Chinese and Indonesian entity metaphors are the differences of national culture,regional culture,historical culture and religious culture.The improvement of learner’s metaphor ability can effectively improve the verbal communication ability.This article uses a metaphor test to examine the Chinese metaphor ability of Indonesian learners and analyzes the errors in their use of Chinese metaphor.By collecting and analyzing the Chinese entity metaphor ability test papers of Indonesian intermediate and advanced learners,this article finds that:(1)The learners’ ability to understand and judge the meaning of metaphors is positively related to their Chinese proficiency;(2)The reasons affect learners’ understanding of metaphor include: Negative transfer of native language,transparency of word meaning,length of sentences,strength of choice interference,and comprehension strategies used by learners when interpreting metaphors;(3)When using Chinese entity metaphors,learners will have semantic errors,syntactic errors and pragmatic errors.Bias attribution mainly includes: no corresponding words in the mother tongues,inappropriate or biased understanding of words,lack of understanding of the context and cultural connotation of words,etc.This article proposes teaching suggestions from two aspects,namely,teachers’ teaching suggestions and students’ learning suggestions.The former includes improving teaching concepts and methods,enriching and innovating teaching resources,and emphasizing teaching practice and feedback.The latter includes understanding the meaning of metaphors,mastering metaphorical models,and being familiar with cross-cultural contexts.
