Obejcetive: Individuals engage in some degree of self-talk when making decisions, and the personal perspective used for this self-talk may be either first-person or third-person.It has been shown that self-talk from a third-person perspective leads individuals to think about themselves as they think about others by distancing themselves psychological distance from events.Whether this way of thinking migrates to decision making and thus affects the individual’s fair allocation behavior remains to be further tested. The present study focuses on how two persona perspectives affect individuals’ fair allocation.Experiment 1 used the ultimatum game paradigm to compare the fair allocation using the two persona perspectives. However, because in the ultimatum game, the power of an individual is constrained by the other party and cannot indicate the true intention,in addition,it has been noted that the difference in the power held by an individual affects the individual’s decision making.Accordingly,Experiment 2 adopts the dictator game paradigm, and thus understands the effect of different persona perspectives on the fair distribution of individuals and the role of power in it.Research Methods: This study consists of two experiments. In Experiment 1 a mixed experimental design of 2(persona perspective: first/third)× 4(outcome after rejection:0:0/1:1/2:2/3:3)was used through an ultimatum game.Experiment 2 used a mixed experimental design of 2(person perspective: first/third)× 3(allocation: Equitable distribution/less equitable distribution/extremely inequitable distribution)through a dictator game. The effectiveness of the first/third person perspective is further discussed in terms of revealing the effect of different person perspectives on the fair allocation of individuals,in terms of the power held by individuals. The results and cinclusion of this study are as follow:(1)In the ultimatum game, the main effect of person perspective is significant,i.e.,individuals who use the first-person perspective have a higher degree of fair allocation than those who use the third-person perspective.(2)In the ultimatum game, the interaction between person perspective and rejection consequences is significant,i.e.,individuals using the third-person perspective have less fair allocation behavior as the rejection consequences increase.(3)In the dictator game, the main effect of person perspective is not significant, indicating that the power possessed by an individual affects the individual’s decision,i.e.,individuals with high power do not differ significantly in their fair allocation whether they use the first-person or third-person perspective.(4)In the dictator game, the main effect of the allocation scheme is significant, indicating that individuals have a fairness preference,i.e.,when one of the two allocation schemes presented is highly unfair, both prompt individuals to choose the other scheme that is fairer compared to it.This study reveals the effect of different persona perspectives on individuals’ fair allocation, and the comparison reveals that the level of power held by individuals weakens or even eliminates the effect of persona perspective. These results not only help to reveal the influence of persona perspective on individual decision making, but also have its important practical significance for promoting more rational and effective decision making of individuals in daily life based on the convenience and quickness of persona perspective change.
