In the history of modern and contemporary western philosophy and culture, scholars such as Saussure,Derrida,Foucault and Heidegger have made a spatial turn in their research, which has affected many academic research fields, including narratology. Therefore, spatial narratology came into being, which made up for the shortcomings of classical narratology and post classical narratology, and changed the research perspective from linear time to nonlinear space. As an important movie type with both realistic criticism and artistic aesthetics, science fiction movies are deeply loved by the majority of the audience.People’s interest in science fiction movies not only because of their great commercial potential, but also because of their advanced imagination, which provides a driving force for social change.Using the methods of text analysis, discourse analysis and case study, this paper investigates the spatial narrative performance of American doomsday science fiction movies since the new century. The full text is divided into six parts. This paper combs the research background, research methods and narrative research methods at home and abroad, and explains the relevant research background and research methods at home and abroad. The first chapter discusses that under the background of the rise of Western spatial narration, the importance of space in science fiction movies is becoming increasingly prominent.American doomsday science fiction movies, which tend to describe the end of time, pay attention to the rendering of scenes and form a relatively fixed theme orientation. The second chapter discusses the spatial narrative strategy of American apocalyptic science fiction movies from the perspective of audio-visual language; It is found that it mainly uses stylized picture space,scene-based sound space, and then groups the shots in a editing way,so as to achieve a synchronic narrative. The third chapter discusses that doomsday space is not only conducive to the characterization of characters, but also can be used as the basis for organizing narrative structure to lead the development of plot. The fourth chapter discusses the cultural implication of the spatial narrative of American doomsday science fiction movies in the new century; It is believed that it constructs multiple discourse spaces, reshapes Western religious myths, reflects the contradictory psychology of modern people’s dependence on and anxiety about science and technology, and also shows their deep concern about the space of multiple subjects. The fifth chapter reflects on the creation of the spatial narrative of the doomsday science fiction movie, and believes that the binary opposition of paying attention to audio-visual stimulation, the solidification of narrative mode and value limits the perfect expression of the movie to a certain extent.High quality science fiction movies with doomsday theme have reference value.Chinese science fiction movies need to pay attention to narrative creation, learn from the strengths of others and seek breakthroughs in order to realize the prosperity and development of science fiction movie industry better.
