Three Dimensions Of Combing Traditional Culture’s Excellent Elements And Exploring Its Educational Values

In the context of cultural confidence,the exploration of Chinese traditional culture’s excellent elements is an important foundational work to achieve the combination between Marxist basic principles and Chinese excellent traditional culture.Based on the social ontology of Marxist historical materialism,the relationship between man and the world can be divided into three dimensions,namely man’s relationships with nature(man-nature debate),with others(self-others debate),and with self(body-mind debate).This study intends to sort out Chinese traditional culture’s excellent components from these three dimensions,compare them with western traditional ideas,and investigate their intrinsic educational values,theoretical values and practical significance.First,from the aspect of man-nature debate,different from western dichotomy,Chinese culture advocates the unity of man and nature.Its educational value lies in that it can provide resources from intellectual history for modern people to truly establish the thought of life community that shares the fate of man and nature.Second,in terms of self-others debate,varying from western culture’s focus on egoism and individualism,Chinese culture promotes the fusion of self and others,group and individual.Its educational value can offer Chinese wisdom for modern people to get out of the barriers of egoism and individualism,and provide strong cohesion and spiritual impetuses for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Third,in light of body-mind debate,distinct from western dualism,Chinese traditional culture emphasizes the unity of body and mind.Its educational value lies in that it can not only clarify the drawbacks of hedonism and consumerism,but also provide important guidance for us to establish a true view of happiness.
