The criminal behavior of prisoners reflects their higher aggression.Criminal behavior is a major social instability factor, and it is very meaningful to study the influencing factors and mechanism of aggression of prisoners.Based on the biological theory of aggression,frustration-aggression theory, and social learning theory, this study casts a perspective on childhood abuse as an important variable.Childhood is a critical period of growth and development, and experiences during this period will have an important impact on physical development and personality development.Childhood abuse mainly refers to the physical, emotional and sexual abuse or neglect suffered by an individual in the family environment during childhood, and this trauma can have adverse effects on individual development.Previous studies have shown that childhood abuse can increase the level of impulsivity and alexithymia in individuals.Impulsivity refers to the lack of consideration and self-control in the face of stressful events, often making inappropriate behaviors and causing adverse consequences, which is especially common among prisoners.Alexithymia refers to a personality trait with defects in emotional recognition and emotional processing, including three dimensions of emotional recognition, emotional expression and extraverted thinking. The detection rate among prisoners is significantly higher than that of the general public.Impulsivity and alexithymia are often closely related to aggression in prisoners.Based on previous research, this study selects 421 inmates from a women’s prison in Jiangsu Province and a men’s prison in Shaanxi Province as subjects, attempts to explore the impact of childhood abuse on inmates’ aggression, and attempts to construct a chain intermediary A model to illustrate the pathway effects of childhood abuse on aggression in prisoners.Specifically, this study used the "Childhood Abuse Scale","Aggression Scale","Impulsiveness Scale" and "Toronto Alexithymia Scale" to test 421 prisoners, using SPSS26.0 Screening and analysis of data with Process V3.0 verified the chain mediation model of childhood abuse-impulsivity-alexithymia-aggression.Through the investigation and research of male and female prisoners, this study attempts to explore the impact mechanism of prisoners’ aggression, and draws the following conclusions:1.There are significant gender differences in criminal types, impulsiveness and alexithymia of prisoners. There was no significant gender difference in childhood abuse of prisoners, but women scored significantly higher than men on the emotional abuse dimension. There was no significant gender difference in aggression among prisoners, but on the dimension of physical aggression, men scored significantly higher than women.2.Impulsivity and alexithymia play a chain mediating role between childhood abuse and prisoner aggression. This study revealed the influencing factors and mechanism of aggression among inmates by investigating male and female inmates. This study suggests that prisoners are a special group, both male and female prisoners have higher levels of aggression, childhood abuse, impulsivity and alexithymia.Combined with practical needs, the results of this research and the results of previous research, some suggestions are put forward,in order to play a positive role in the psychological correction and resocialization of prisoners:Group counseling program,Individual counseling program and Yoga.
