The emotional color of the vocabulary has an important influence on the vocabulary processing,However, how to obtain the emotional information of vocabulary is still short of systematically studies. The Affect Misattribution Procedure(AMP)refers to participants’ evaluation of shortly presented neutral targets that are preceded by briefly presented prime stimuli.Typically, the evaluative categorization of the neutral targets is biased towards the valence of the primes: neutral targets are more often categorised as pleasant following positive primes and are categorised more often as unpleasant following negative primes. This paradigm is conducive to exploring the automated acquisition mechanism of emotional information. Therefore, using the AMP paradigm, this study is intended to examine the mechanism of neutral concrete and abstract vocabulary acquisition of specific emotions through three experiments. In this study, pictures of different emotional colors were selected, and the vocabulary judgment task was added to the standard AMP paradigm, and participants were required to judge neutral concrete and abstract words, and record their reaction time and accuracy rate,so as to reveal the effect of the initiation of different emotional pictures on the emotional acquisition of neutral words and the mechanism of this influence in the learning coding stage. In addition, studies have found that the specificity of vocabulary has a significant interaction with the presence of emotional and social cues. Therefore, this study will explore the influence of emotional and social cues on the learning of different concrete abstract words through the systematic manipulation of the characteristics of the startup picture. Each of the three sets of experiments consisted of two phases: learning and testing.Experiment 1 Presents four specific emotion activation pictures to the participants during the learning stage, and asks the participants to complete the vocabulary judgment task according to the instructions.During the testing phase, the emotional forced selection task was used to record the intensity score of the emotional level of the word after the participants learned through the AMP paradigm. The results found that regardless of the emotion of the initiation picture, the participants tended to choose their feelings about neutral words as happy.Experiment two and experiment three are basically the same as experiment one in the learning stage, experiment three changes the type of startup picture, adds social cues, and increases the assessment of vocabulary before learning, and allows participants to score emotional intensity on all four emotion types.Experiment 2 found that:(1)In the matching scored emotion dimension, the neutral concrete abstract words experienced more than the corresponding emotional dimension after learning than before learning, indicating that the neutral concrete abstract words all obtained corresponding emotions after learning.(2)When the emotions of the starting picture are anger, fear and happiness, neutral concrete words are more likely to obtain corresponding emotions than abstract words, and when the emotion of the startup picture is sad, abstract words are easier to obtain corresponding emotions than concrete words.Experiment 3 found that:(1)in the correct rate of the learning stage, when the starting picture has social clues and the emotion is fear, the correct rate of correct judgment as a concrete word is higher than that of abstract words;when the starting picture has no social clues and the emotion is happy, the accuracy of specific words is higher than that of abstract words;(2)when reacting, the time for correct judgment as specific words is significantly shorter than the time of judgment as abstract words, and the time when the starting picture has social clues is shorter than when there is no social clue. When the emotion of the startup picture is fear, the reaction of the startup picture when there is a social clue is also significantly shorter than that of the startup picture without social clues, which is consistent with the correct rate result.(3)In the testing stage, regardless of the mood of the startup picture, the change in the score of the concrete word is greater than that of the abstract word, and the change in the starting picture without social clues is greater than that of the social clue. The interaction trend is also the same, both of which are significantly higher than abstract words when there is no social clue in the startup picture. In this study,we explored the influence of specific emotions and social cues on the learning of neutral concrete words and abstract words through three behavioral experiments, and came to the following conclusions:(1)Neutral vocabulary can obtain a certain emotional color through the AMP procedure, and the specificity of the concept of vocabulary will affect the degree of emotional learning.(2)Regardless of the discrete emotion of pictures, concrete words are easier to get emotion than abstract words, and neutral words can successfully get specific emotion through the AMP procedure, especially when the emotion of the picture is activated as anger and happiness.(3)When there is no social clue in the priming picture, the score varies greatly than social clue, and the existence of social clues can promote our acquisition of the emotion of abstract words;while when the prime picture has no social clues,it is easier to learn the same emotion for concrete words. |
