The Embodied Cognition Study Of Abstract Emotion Words And Concrete Emotion Words

A great deal of embodied research has focused on the embodied representations of concepts.when it comes to the process of recognition,it involves perceptual,somatosensory and motoric systems.Some supporters hold that concepts are grounded simulations of actual experiences with instances of those concepts in sensory-motor systems.Others believe that people use metaphorical mappings from concrete to abstract concepts.The researchers have no agreement on the representation and processing of different types of concepts.According to the sensory motor simulation and conceptual metaphor theory,we divided the emotion concepts into abstract and concrete,then explore different type of concepts in simulation and metaphor way,further make it clear that the effect of concreteness in the process of representation.Experiment 1 shows that the switch costs in cross modality,which is the react time have extended and the error have added,compared with the same type of modality,especially in the concrete emotion word.The concrete emotional words,depended more on the modal simulation representation,which is the image scheme plays the key role of in the recognition the of concepts,while the abstract ones does not?Experiment 2 concerns whether the priming effect in vertical space is different in concrete and abstract words.It proves that the space-tasks judge time influenced by the previous words,the affection is that the positive word is help to judge the button on the top of screen.The abstract and concrete positive words both show the vertical space effect.The consistency of the conceptual metaphors and abstract emotion word has a tendency on conceptual metaphors characterization.In sum,the results proving that the concrete emotional word depends on the specific way of perceptual simulation characterization,and the cognitive processing have been affected more by image schema.On the other hand,both of them are affected by vertical space processing characterization of conceptual metaphors,while abstract emotion word has a tendency on conceptual metaphors characterization.
