Hu Puan's Study On Zhuangz

Hu Puan was a master of Chinese studies in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China.He read widely and wrote many books.His History of Chinese Philology and History of Chinese Exegesis were regarded as the first works in the history of modern primary schools,especially in the academic world.In addition,Hu Puan made great achievements in Confucian classics,historiography,Confucian classics,literature and many other fields.This paper is to discuss hu Puan’s research on Zhuangzi.His research on Zhuangzi is mainly seen in zhuangzi Zhangyi,Confucianism、Taoism and Mohism,The Study of zhou and Qin Scholars and the Bibliography of Zhou and Qin Scholars.At present,most scholars only pay attention to hu Puan’s achievements in the fields of philology,exegetics,articles and so on,but there is still no special research on zhuangzi.This thesis is divided into four parts to study Hu Puan and his literary works in Zhuangzi.The first part summarizes Hu Puan’s life and academic achievements,briefly introduces hu Puan’s family background,growth experience,political achievements and academic career,especially introduces hu Puan’s relevant works on Zhuangzi.The second part is hu Puan’s philological study of Zhuangzi.This paper investigates hu Puan’s achievements in the philology of Zhuangzi from the perspective of dialectics,exegesis,catalogue and so on.The third part discusses hu Puan’s research on zhuangzi,which is also the focus of this paper.In Hu Puan’s opinion,the essence of Zhuangzi is all in the inner part,and if we don’t know the order of the inner part,there is no purpose to see zhuangzi.Based on the inner thoughts of Zhuangzi,Hu Puan led the other miscellaneous articles,and quoted other theories from other schools,intending to study systematically and deeply the order of zhuangzi’s thoughts,and investigate the origin of Zhuangzi’s theories and their position in the history of Chinese thought.The fourth part examines the influence of Zhuangzi on many aspects of Hu Puan’s life,and summarizes the achievements and shortcomings of his zhuangzi research.In a word,Hu Puan’s study of Zhuangzi fully embodies the characteristics of Zhuangzi studies in the Republic of China,which not only inherits the traditional research paradigm,but also shines with the color of The Times.He not only analyzed the whole book chapter by chapter in detail,but also looked at the status and influence of Zhuangzi from the macroscopic view of the history of Ancient Chinese thought.His zhuangzi study really has its important position and originality.
