The Victorian period in the 19 th century was a period of prosperity for watercolor art.The coexistence of various aesthetic concepts and cultural trends made the Victorian watercolor painters shine like bright stars in the galaxy.William Roselle Flint,as an excellent watercolor master who links the past and the future,has promoted the new beginning of watercolor characters,and has the function of linking the past and the future.He took watercolor as the main expression medium for painting figures and devoted his whole life to the creation and research of watercolor figures.William Russell Flint’s watercolor paintings or exhibitions are loved and studied by the public,and the causes and connotations of the painting techniques and styles of his watercolor works are more worthy of analysis and exploration.Through the study of Flint’s character watercolor painting language,this paper starts from the era of the formation of Flint’s watercolor painting,and then explores the multiple factors of the formation of Flint’s painting style and analyzes Flint’s character watercolor painting with different themes.The characteristics of his style are progressive,gradually exploring the evolution and growth of his painting style.His aesthetics have also deeply influenced generations of watercolor painters,explored its vital value,and meant.
