Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response As An Artistic Strategy:The Auditory Reflexivity Of Tremors

Autonomous sensory meridian response(ASMR),as a bizarre sensory phenomenon,is now playing an important role in the global online world: it has evolved from its original medical term to become the most widespread synonym for the phenomenon of sound on the Internet.As an emerging cultural form,"ASMR" has rarely been studied in China,but it is actually of high discussion significance and a category that cannot be ignored by new media art practitioners who are concerned with network culture and auditory culture.This paper will review the nature,value and influence of this emerging cultural form,focusing on sound and auditory aspects,from the technical,creative and communication levels,incorporating relevant artworks and the author’s personal practice,to illustrate how "ASMR" has become a new media art creation strategy.Under the reality that ASMR-related creations generally rely heavily on media technology to explore the origin of perception and perceptual pleasure,this paper proposes that new media art should intervene in the self-reflection of this cultural phenomenon,and then introduces the concept of meta-art to present the author’s more transcendent thinking and practice under this theme.
