With the improvement of the public’s spiritual needs,art and design exhibitions,as professional research institutions,play an increasingly important role in presenting cutting-edge research results to the society and sharing the comprehensive display form of artistic and cultural content.China,as the largest exhibition country in the world,has no lightweight and replicable solutionsto the following common problems of such exhibitions: First,the high density of human,financial and physical input is not proportional to the mass communication efficiency of the exhibition;Second,the large volume of promotional materials for the exhibition will be abandoned immediately after the exhibition.Due to the incomplete recovery and treatment mechanism,the waste and pollution caused by solid wastes are serious.This article focuses on design exhibitions initiated by professional art and design institutions,with the main goal of assisting curators(or teams)to promote the mass communication of exhibition information,including two sub-goals of extending the life cycle of exhibition material carrier and evaluating the efficiency of exhibition information dissemination.From the Angle of the design disciplines product system innovation,the introduction of the life cycle perspective,this article redefines design exhibition as a complex system of both physical and virtual information carrier,professional and marketability.The existing curatorial service cycle is extended and re-divided into three stages:pre-exhibition,mid-exhibition and post-exhibition,forming a hypothetical model of design exhibition curatorial service system consisting of information layer,service layer and communication layer.Among them,the service layer contains three service modules with certain sequence and nested with each other: Pre-exhibition service strategy module,in-exhibition experience design module and post-exhibition waste recycling cultural products module.Under the guidance of the thinking of gray decision,the service system model was built through CATWOE model element analysis,classical mass communication model and mode.With the acquisition,analysis and feedback of audience demand as the main line of the service system,the information input and output between the service modules are connected in series,and the waterfall V model is used as the reference of the verification sequence of the module and the system as a whole,$APPEALS model from IBM and the list of Life Cycle Assessment were used as the main tools of the overall system effect and system material output,respectively.so as to guide the design experiment and form iterative feedback.Based on the design action SUNs,three design experiments of the post-exhibition,pre-exhibition and post-exhibition module of curatorial service system have been conducted: V1.0,V2.0 and V3.0.The first is the data of initial product sales,professional awards,media reports,and recycling mode types actually established with universities and institutions.The second is the target user base sample of 227 questionnaire survey participants.The practical innovation,feasibility and effectiveness of the service module during and after the exhibition were preliminarily verified by analyzing the interactive experience data of 1909 participants in the exhibition,the access data of 2057 electronic archives of the exhibition and the comparison between the application of the service module and the supporting intellectual property results.
