On The Shaping Of Virtual And Real Situations In Immersive Theatre

Immersive theater breaks the mirror-frame stage,takes the audience as the core of the theater experience,satisfies the audience’s sensory needs through experiential,interactive and immersive features,and achieves a high commercial value in the development of the experience economy.Immersive theater can be regarded as a branch of environmental theater formed in the development,both of which have achieved a breakthrough in the limitations of traditional theater space and the framing of performance by the script.Immersive theater focuses on the immersive experience of the audience through the stimulation of the five senses of sight,sound,smell,taste and touch,which shape the sensory experience of the audience in the theater space.The experiential,interactive and immersive characteristics of immersive theatre are reflected in the interaction between the audience and the actors,the medium and the space.Through the audience’s participation in the unfolding of the theatre in the space,it shapes the unique experience of the individual and satisfies the audience’s emotional needs for special experiences.In the pursuit of pleasure brought by sensory stimulation,immersive theater often neglects the communication of emotional experience and spiritual values,weakening the aesthetic meaning of theatrical expression."Immersion" should not only be reflected in the level of sensory experience,but through the contrast between real and imaginary situations,the physical level of feeling is extended to the emotional level through the transformation from figurative to abstract,and finally to the spiritual experience.This thesis aims to study the way to shape the real and imaginary situations in immersive theater,to explore the realization of the multi-layered construction of the theater space by the multi-media expression of digital media technology,to realize the perceptual unity of the audience’s body and emotion in the immersive theater space,narrative and interaction through the contrast and transformation of the real and imaginary situations,and to finally realize the immersive experience of "mind and body in one".The ultimate realization of the "mind-body" immersion experience to meet the spiritual needs of the audience.
