Research On The Stone Statues With Back Screens Unearthed In Yecheng Area Of The Northern Dynastie

During the period of social turmoil in the Northern and Southern Dynasties,Buddhism developed rapidly among the people under the strong advocacy of the rulers,leaving a large number of exquisitely made folk Buddhist statues.Among them,the unearthed Buddhist statues in Yecheng have enriched the buddhist art examples in the Northern Dynasty,which is the epitome of the Buddhist art in Yecheng during the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi dynasties.In particular,the large-scale Buddhist statues unearthed in Bewuzhuang in 2012 were listed as "Six new archaeological discoveries" in 2012 due to their large scale and abundance of statues.The stone back-screen statues unearthed in this batch of statues occupy most of the examples of statues in this area.The research on the back-screen statues in Yecheng area can have a deeper understanding of the style and characteristics of the overall statues in the Northern Dynasty.Based on previous research results,this paper is divided into four parts to systematically discuss issues related to stone statues with back screens unearthed in Yecheng area during the Northern Dynasty.The introduction part summarizes the research status of Buddhist statues in Yecheng area as well as the research ideas and methods of this paper.The first part of the text systematically combs the development status of Buddhism in Yecheng region,starting from the fact that Yecheng was regarded as the center of Buddhist communication twice,and then analyzes the activities of monks in this region,the prevalence of buddhist scripture listening and preaching.It also summarizes the remains of the statues in Yecheng,Jinggi.The second part studies the themes,styles and types of back screen and stages of the Northern Dynasty in Yecheng area.The third part of the back screen elements: apsaras,pagodas,and tree patterns(dragon tree back niche image)image analysis;The combination of apsaras in the back screen is classified and compared,and the style of apsaras is analyzed;The typical characteristics and beliefs of pagoda pattern are discussed.And the buddhist art appears in the function of sacred trees and dragon tree back niche style characteristics of the style of research.The fourth part compares the back-screen statues in Yecheng with those in Dingzhou Quyang and Qingzhou respectively.The causes of the back-screen statues in this area are explored in many aspects.
