| In the development history of pictorials in the late Qing Dynasty in the 19 th century,Wu Youru,as a representative figure,painted a series of works such as "Dianshizhai Pictorial" and "Feiyingge Pictorial".As a special collection of Wu Youru’s description of social customs,"Pictures of Customs" is of special significance for studying Wu Youru’s painting style and understanding social life in the late Qing Dynasty.This article takes "Pictures of Customs" as the research object,and systematically sorts out the contents of "Pictures of Customs" from the two aspects of image and text,and outlines the picture of the late Qing Dynasty when people are drunk with money and the world is getting worse.In his depiction of the late Qing Dynasty,Wu Youru created a different narrative method from traditional narrative paintings.Under the new narrative form in which images are the main,texts are supplemented,and images and texts complement each other,he completes the narrative of the pictorial and tells the stories of the late Qing Dynasty.The innovation of the narrative form established the overall style of the late Qing pictorial,and also recorded a large number of late Qing historical materials,which became a window to spy on the late Qing society.More importantly,under the new narrative mode,Wu Youru conveyed to the public his different attitudes towards different social customs in the late Qing Dynasty by reporting on news stories.And with the help of the mass media of newspapers and periodicals,to give full play to the communication advantages of the combination of pictures and texts,and to start the pictorial "low-key enlightenment" by combining words and images to spread the truth,constantly influencing the style of later generations of pictorials,and promoting the Enlightenment Movement in the late Qing Dynasty. |
