| As an indispensable basic skill,writing is an important indicator to measure students’ English level,which plays an important role in English learning.However,in the process of teaching,the author found that students are not interested in writing and their compositions are not satisfactory,one of the important reasons lies in their weak genre awareness,some students even don’t know genre at all,hence the compositions they compose are usually far from the basic features and language style of a certain genre.In this case,choosing what way to carry out the teaching of writing can effectively promote students’ writing ability as well as raise their genre awareness has been a focus of scholars at home and abroad in recent years.With the pattern of Continuation Task put forward by professor Wang Chuming,this mode is widely used in writing teaching,but the researches about how to analyze genres are relatively less.Therefore,this thesis implements an action research about Continuation Task based on genre theory,aiming to figure out the influence of students’ writing of the application of genre theory in Continuation Task.This research is based on genre theory,the input and output hypothesis and stylistic interaction,exploring the impact on students’ genre theory and their writing ability by the application of genre in Continuation Task.And the research was conducted among 80 students of Grade Two from a high school,which lasts for four months,there are total two rounds of actions in this research.Questionnaires,interview and tests are adopted to solve the following two questions:(1)Can the application of genre theory to Continuation task effectively raise students’ genre awareness?(2)Will the application of genre theory to the high school Continuation task improve students’ writing ability(content,language,structure)? SPSS23.0is used to analyze the collected data.The research results show that: firstly,the application of genre theory to Continuation Task can effectively cultivate learners’ genre awareness.Secondly,applying genre theory to Continuation Task can greatly enhance learners’ writing ability from the aspects of content,language and structure. |
