Reading is not only one of the effective ways of language input,but also an important part in English reading teaching.In the current English reading teaching of junior middle schools in the urban-rural fringe areas,teachers mainly tell students about phrases,vocabulary and grammar knowledge in articles.This teaching method is inefficient and boring.As a result,the teaching effect is far behind that of urban central schools.Therefore,it is necessary for teachers in junior middle schools in the urban-rural fringe areas to explore new methods of English reading teaching.As a thinking tool for knowledge visualization,mind mapping shows learners a clear article structure,guides them to deeply understand the article,and helps learners construct the knowledge framework in their brain.After reading a large number of literatures,the researchers found that there are many studies on the application of mind mapping in English reading teaching,but few take junior middle school students in the urban-rural fringe areas as the research object.Therefore,this study applies mind mapping to English Reading Teaching in junior middle schools in the urban-rural fringe areas.The purpose is to explore its impact on the reading interest and reading comprehension ability of junior middle school students in the urban-rural fringe,so as to verify whether the application of mind map in reading teaching can improve the reading interest and reading comprehension ability of junior middle school students in the urban-rural fringe.In order to answer the above research questions,this study is based on the research status of the mind map application in English reading teaching at home and abroad.Two classes with similar grades in Grade 9 of junior middle school in the urban-rural fringe of Shanghe county are selected as the research objects,which are respectively the control class and the experimental class.This study carries out experimental research for four months.The author collects the experimental data through three research tools:questionnaire,test paper and interview outline,and then uses SPSS software to analyze the experimental data in order to find the changes of students’ English reading interest and reading comprehension ability before and after the experiment.Through the analysis of experimental data,it is proved that the implementation of English reading teaching mode based on mind map in junior middle schools in the urban-rural fringe not only stimulates students’ interest in English reading,but also promotes the improvement of students’ reading comprehension ability in reading literacy,which helps to steadily improve their reading literacy,but also provides a different teaching method for junior middle school teachers in the urban-rural fringe.Therefore,The English reading teaching based on mind map is helpful to promote the progress of junior middle school teachers and students in the urban-rural fringe,and then improve the quality of English teaching.
