A Study On Modal Adverbs Of Beijing Dialect Based On Three Literature Of Wang Shuo Collection,the Grand Mansion Gate,I Love My Family

Modal adverbs are numerous in number,flexible in distribution and diverse in usage,and they have always occupied an important corner in the modern Chinese adverb system.In our daily interactions,the modal adverbs often have a unique regional color when expressing the speaker’s attitude and emotion,showing the characteristics that are different from modern Chinese Mandarin.Therefore,This paper takes the modal adverbs appearing in three works of Beijing dialect characteristics-Wang Shuo Collection,The Grand Mansion Gate,I Love My Family as the research objects,and uses the method of quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis to comprehensively investigate and describe the modal adverbs of Beijing dialect.Then,on the basis of analysis and induction,we explain the textual pragmatic function of modal adverbs with the help of functional grammar theory and cognitive language theory.First of all,we used the prototype category theory to determine three criteria for discriminating modal adverbs on the basis of syntactic function and expressed meaning.They are: the structure obtained by combining with other components must be predicative;location diversity;subjectivity.According to the three criteria,combined with the research object and the definition of authoritative dictionary,we list 113 modal adverbs,which constituted the research object of this paper.Then,we conduct a comprehensive analysis of the syntactic combination function and co-occurrence phenomenon of modal adverbs,and clarified the modification objects of modal adverbs.And we discussed the co-occurrence of modal adverbs in Beijing dialect,and found that modal adverbs show the characteristics of preposition and dynamics when used in conjunction with predicate structures,while they always show hierarchical recursion when combined with other adverbs.We also discussed the function of modal adverbs expressing statement,imperative,interrogative,exclamation and the function of volitional mood expressing possibility,understanding,and necessity.Then,we analyzed the semantic orientation of modal adverbs,and found that influenced by the modified object and location,modal adverbs can either refer to the predicate component in the sentence or point to multiple semantic objects.In addition,we put the modal adverbs in the specific text structure,and discussed their pragmatic functions such as expressive function,focus presupposition,and limited reference in the aspect of information structure,as well as different means to achieve the function of discourse cohesion.Finally,we compared the modal adverbs of Beijing dialect with the modal adverbs of mandarin,discussed the use of three types of modal adverbs,and made a comparative analysis of the two groups of typical cases "fanzheng" and "hengshu" "hezhe" and "yuanlai".
