Throughout the history of Western art,it is actually a history from "reproduction" to "expression".From ancient Greece to the 19 th century Impressionism,the development of Western art history always revolved around the core of "reproduction",but in the middle and late 19 th century,with the rise of modernist art,"expression" became the focus of Western artists.Post-Impressionism was not a painting school or an art group,but mainly referred to the painting concepts of Cézanne,Van Gogh and Gauguin,who opposed the mechanical imitation of nature and advocated that painting should express more subjective feelings about the objective world,and made a bold exploration and reflection on the form of painting.They were against the mechanical imitation of nature and advocated that painting should be more expressive of the subjective feeling of the objective world.Expressionist painting was developed on the basis of post-impressionist painting.They inherited the fine tradition of "expression" and incorporated their own subjective thinking and strong emotions,and conducted a deeper and richer study on the construction of the form of the picture.This paper takes Expressionist painting as the main research object,and starts from exploring the construction of the form of the picture,using literature research method,case study method and image analysis method to organize,summarize and analyze relevant data,improve the theoretical system of this paper,and establish clear research content.This paper is divided into five chapters: firstly,to clarify the content of the study,to explain the emergence and development of Expressionist painting;secondly,to explore the linguistic characteristics of Expressionist painting,from the abandonment of traditional painting methods,the emphasis on subjectivity and expression,and the strong philosophical and discursive meaning;thirdly,to analyze the construction of the picture form of Expressionist painting in the context of art works,the construction means are mainly The construction means are mainly explained in three aspects: exaggerated and deformed expression,pursuit of flat composition form,and abstraction of the picture;the construction principles are mainly explained in three aspects: breaking the traditional picture layout,collision with the music field,and the use of symbolic language;fourth,through the study of the above,the meaning of the construction of picture form in expressionist painting is analyzed,which is mainly divided into four aspects: expressing the subject’s emotion,meeting the inner needs,and reflecting the times.Fifth,through the research and study,we will discuss the importance of the construction of picture forms and the application of the form construction in my creative practice.
