A Study Of Geographical Imagery In Hongke’s Novels

All his life,Hong Ke devoted himself to the creation of novels.There are a large number of works,which contain countless images,most of which come from Xinjiang and Shaanxi.It is often dizzying and dazzling.Based on the content of their expression in different novels and the relevant classification methods of literary geography,this paper divides them into geographical images of place names,geographical images of landscape,geographical images of animals and geographical images of plants,and discusses their aesthetic characteristics and forming reasons respectively.The four kinds of geographical images have different meanings in different novels.First of all,the geographical images of place names are abundant in Hongke’s novels.Besides serving as narrative background and text clue,they also play the role of expanding the spatial content of the text and serving as the regional mark of the novel,which are abundant in Hongke’s novels.The third is the study of landscape geographical images.The numerous landscape images involved in Hong Ke’s novels can be divided into three categories: characteristic local buildings,special geographical features,and special weather landscapes.This paper focuses on the analysis of the geographical landscape images of the weather,such as the scorching sun,drought and sunny days,wind or storm,solar and white rain.The presence of animal images is also very prominent.Hongke is also famous for describing animals with unique characteristics.This chapter explains five kinds of animal images commonly seen in Xinjiang and Shaanxi,namely horse,eagle,snake,Wolf,and camel.Finally,the study of plant image mainly includes SAP,poplar and birch,goblins,and all kinds of plant jungle.After careful reading and in-depth analysis of the literary expression of various geographical images in Hongke’s novels,this paper discusses the aesthetic characteristics of the image,and concludes that it has the following aesthetic characteristics: The prominent creation of the sense of the atmosphere of the image,the contrast between images,the infiltration of the thought of "integration of things and myself" in the process of image construction,the grand dynamic feeling of the image flying and running,and the distinct spiritual connotation and artistic conception style of the image.The formation of geographical image is closely related to the author’s geographical environment and personal experience.This paper discusses the causes of its formation from two aspects of physical geography and human geography.Based on the knowledge of geography,humanities,and social sciences,it is found that they are closely related to the special climate,topography,social culture,and regional economy of Xinjiang and Shaanxi.On this basis,the author focuses on tracing the creation process of the author as a spatial leap between Xinjiang and Shaanxi.
