The Study On Ambiguity In Abstract Expressionist Painting In The United States

In western painting,fuzzy expression has already come into being in paintings since the year,during the early renaissance,when Vinci began to blur characters’ outline for the softness of paintings,not only conducing to the result that realistic paintings got free from restraint and rigidity step by step,but also bringing about a subsequent influence on Baroque’s fuzzy modeling,impressionists and Richter’s fuzzy painting,etc.With the development of modern society and the expansion of information media,artists constantly grope and innovate methods of how to express fuzziness in pictures,gradually heading for self-consciousness.In abstract expressionism painting,artists are unconsciously spontaneous to express fuzziness,giving rise to a situation in which art with life,painting with action and art with game have a fuzzier boundary with each other,massively expanding the space for art representation.The first chapter in this article is dedicated to teasing out the formation of abstract expressionism and its internal connection with European art.The second attaches a three-part explanation to fuzziness’ meaning and cause of formation: firstly limiting the fuzziness’ conception,then stating and analyzing fuzziness in abstract expressionism painting in the following article with three characters of fuzzy beauty—uncertainty,integrity and mutual permeability,and lastly setting forth the cause of fuzziness’ formation including the fact that fuzziness is invariably around art creation and also turns up in factors of people’s subjective emotions.Playing an important part in this article,the third chapter,mainly citing the works of some artists,who are adequate to stand for abstract impressionism in the United States,anatomizes the works at length respectively via the expression formation of lines,colors and space,and explore fuzziness by getting in accordance with certain laws of visual perception and three characters of fuzziness—uncertainty,integrity and mutual permeability and making analysis in combined with the internal emotional factors of abstract expressionist artists,this paper analyzes and explores the fuzziness in the picture,as well as interprets and analysis on the idea that words and symbols in abstract expressionism painting possesses connotative meaning of fuzziness and has the function to generalize imagination.The last chapter summarizes the influence of fuzziness in abstract expressionism painting on the development of China’s modern painting in terms of value,and on the usage and performance in personal creation.
