Born in Miami,Florida in 1978,Hernan Bas graduated from New World Art Institute in Miami at the age of 18.His easel paintings, videos and installations interweave teenage adventures with supernatural stories, classical poetry, religious tales, mythology and literature.Influenced by the 18th-century Romantic era’s tribute to the sublime beauty of nature and the decadent movement of the 19 th century,as well as by the symbolism and decorative styles of the French Nabi School,Bass’ s early works often depicted aesthetically biased images.Male,de facto androgynous teenage figures, most of them brooding in the vast otherworldly landscape. In recent years his pictorial schemas reveal research on critical themes such as LGBTQIA+,activism, conspiracy theories and mysticism. His work offers a unique perspective on American subcultures and contemporary versions of history painting, allowing viewers to consider the seemingly inconsequential but ever-present connections of "past and present" and thereby provide a space for critical reflection. The author summarizes a radical "anti-alienation" emotion in his painting schema. And this emotion is also permeated in all his artistic creations. The artist Hernan Bas’ s deeply and painfully perceives and recognizes the alienation of human beings. So by driving his own emotional core,he vented his inner "anti-alienation" emotion into the picture with gorgeous and thick tones and delicate brushstrokes. The purpose of this paper is to study the "anti-alienation" emotion in Hernan Bas’ s painting schema. The first chapter is to sort out the concepts of "alienation" and "anti-alienation";the second chapter traces the origin of the artist’s "anti-alienation" emotion, mainly from the background of the times and personal homosexual orientation, etc. The third chapter develops the painting schema of Hernan Bas’ s from the aspects of color, character image, narrative strategy, painting space, deconstruction and reconstruction of text, etc. The research on "anti-alienation" emotions in the book;Chapter Four discusses how the creator’s painting schemas make breakthroughs in "anti-alienation" under the background of "alienation",so as to reflect on the author’s personal identity construction and artistic emotional cognition. |
