| Music is an important medium for human emotional communication,expressing human emotions and influencing people’s moods.Different types of music can elicit different emotional experiences and induce different emotions,as well as have different intensities of effects on emotion regulation.Soundscapes are more frequently found in medicine as an important form of emotion regulation.Studies have found that both music and soundscapes have some effect on emotion regulation,but the intensity of the regulation is also different.Among the available studies,there is a lack of research on the effects of soundscape music on emotion regulation,and there is a lack of exploration and research on the combination itself.To further investigate the effect of soundscape and music on emotion regulation,this study used E-prime and physiological polysomnography to conduct a pre-experiment and three formal experiments to investigate the effect of combining and uncombining the two and the difference in the effect of listening to the combined and uncombined emotions after inducing negative emotions.In the pre-experiment,music materials with three different emotional potencies of happy,sad and calm emotions,bird chirping and running water were selected.The above materials were screened,and a total of 30 music materials were selected to meet the requirements of the formal experiment,10 music materials each for happy,sad and calm emotions,and one audio material each for bird chirping and flowing water sounds.Measurements were performed using E-prime and physiological polysomnography techniques.There were three formal experiments in this study: Experiment 1 used a 2 emotion validity(happy/calm)× 2 with or without bird calls(with and without bird calls)within-subjects experimental design,with the independent variables being emotional validity and the presence or absence of bird calls;emotional validity was divided into three levels,happy,calm,and sad,and the presence or absence of bird calls was divided into two levels,with and without bird calls;the dependent variables were six dimensions,which were Pleasure,arousal,familiarity,beauty,preference,and emotional experience.This experiment focused on the differences between music with and without bird calls on the six dimensions.The behavioral responses of the subjects on the 6 dimensions were compared when listening to music with or without the addition of bird calls,respectively.The results of the keystroke behavioral response test with 60 non-music major subjects showed that the interaction effect with and without bird call music was not significant,and the main effect with and without bird call was not significant.Experiment 2 This experiment used a two-factor between-subjects experimental design with 3 emotional validity(happy/calm/sad)×2 with or without running sound(with running sound/without running sound),the independent variables were validity and whether to include running sound,emotional validity was divided into three levels,divided into happy,calm,and sad,and with or without running sound was divided into two levels,respectively,with and without running sound;the dependent variables were six dimensions,respectively,pleasantness,arousal,familiarity,beauty,preference,and emotional experience.This experiment focused on whether there was a difference in the emotional experience of music after the addition of bird calls in terms of happy/calm/sad emotions,compared with the three emotional music without bird calls.The results of the keystroke behavioral response test conducted on 60 subjects with music majors showed that:(1)in happy music,flowing water had significant effects on the four aesthetic experiences of arousal,beauty,preference,and pleasure of the subjects,in which the beauty and preference of the subjects increased significantly after adding flowing water,while the arousal and pleasure decreased significantly;(2)in sad music,flowing water had significant effects on the five aesthetic experiences of the subjects,and the arousal and pleasure of the subjects decreased significantly after adding flowing water.(2)In sad music,running water has a significant effect on all five types of aesthetic experiences,and the values of these five types of aesthetic emotions increase after adding running water.The addition of running water to sad music increases the probability of subjects feeling calm,but this effect is limited;(3)in calm music,running water has a significant effect on all five types of aesthetic experiences,and the value of all five types of aesthetic experiences increases after adding running water.Adding the sound of running water to calm music reduces the probability of subjects feeling calm and sad emotions,but the effect is limited.Experiment 3 used a two-factor within-subject experimental design of 3(no music/calm music/soundscape music)×2 with or without negative emotions(negative emotions/no negative emotions),with the independent variables of music and with or without negative emotions divided into three levels,namely,no music,calm music,and soundscape music,and with or without negative emotions divided into two levels,namely,negative emotions and no negative emotions;the dependent variables were six dimensions,respectively.The dependent variables are six dimensions,namely,pleasure,arousal,familiarity,beauty,preference,and emotional experience.This experiment focused on the difference between soundscape music and pure music and the difference between soundscape music and pure music in terms of their ability to regulate emotions after noise interference.The results of keystroke behavioral responses and electrodermal tests on 30 non-music majored subjects showed that(1)the electrodermal in the pre-noise condition was significantly greater when soundscape music was played than in the pure music and no music conditions,and the difference between the electrodermal in the pure music and no music conditions was not significant,and the difference between the electrodermal in the post-noise condition was not significant when soundscape music,pure music and no music were played;(2)the electrodermal in the pure music condition was significantly higher than the finger temperature in the no-music condition;(3)in the no-music condition,the respiration after noise was significantly greater than the respiration before noise,in the pure music condition,the difference between the respiration before and after noise was not significant,and in the soundscape music condition,the respiration after noise was significantly greater than the respiration before noise;in the pre-noise condition,the respiration when playing pure music was significantly greater than the respiration when playing no music,and the respiration when playing soundscape breathing when playing pure music was significantly greater than breathing when playing pure music;(4)in the no music condition,the alpha wave without noise was greater than the alpha wave after noise;in the pure and soundscape music conditions,the difference between the alpha wave without noise and with noise was not significant;in the no noise condition,no music was significantly greater than pure and soundscape music,and in the noise condition,the difference in music type was not significant;(5)in the pure music condition,no noise edge was significantly greater than with noise,and the rest of the cases were not significant with and without noise;the difference in music type was not significant in the noiseless case,and in the noiseless case,no music was significantly greater than pure music,and the differences between soundscape music and no music,and soundscape music and pure music were not significant.The results of the behavioral button experiments showed that(1)soundscape music had a more significant improvement on subjects’ aesthetic experience compared to calm music;(2)soundscape music triggered more diverse emotional experiences compared to calm music;(3)the effect of soundscape music on subjects’ aesthetic experience was significantly different from calm music and no music;(4)the effect of soundscape music on subjects’ aesthetic experience was significantly different from calm music and no music;(5)the effect of soundscape music on subjects’ aesthetic experience was(4)the effect of soundscape music on subjects’ aesthetic experience was significantly different from that of calm music and no music;(5)soundscape music triggered all nine types,calm music failed to trigger tension and sadness,and no music failed to trigger power and sadness.In summary,this study demonstrated the significant effect of soundscape music on emotion regulation through three experiments,which is conducive to clarifying the theoretical research mechanism of the effect of soundscape music on emotion regulation,providing a basis for the study of the effect of soundscape music on emotion regulation,providing an empirical basis and an important theory for the study of Chinese folk music as a type of soundscape music on emotion regulation,and providing a corresponding theoretical basis for the effect of different types of soundscape music in the future.It also provides a theoretical basis for the influence of different types of soundscape music in the future.It also provides reliable help for people with negative emotions and,to a certain extent,demonstrates the positive effects of Chinese soundscape music.The results of this experimental study help to explore and study more deeply the use of soundscape music for emotion regulation in various fields and provide various possibilities for emotion regulation.The study of soundscape music was conducted in order to enhance its important role and value in emotion regulation. |
