In the new era,the "three rural issues" are still the top priority of the whole Party, but in recent years, with the development of urbanisation,a large number of rural people have moved to the cities, and the problems of hollowing out of the countryside, atomisation of the structure and cultural marginalisation have become increasingly prominent. The traditional grassroots governance based on "management" is facing a more serious challenge. Therefore, how to innovate the grassroots governance model and improve the grassroots governance system in the context of modernisation has become an urgent issue to be resolved. In this context, the reproduction of folk culture is linked to grassroots governance, providing a new developmental idea for grassroots governance.Folk culture is a folk custom, especially in rural areas, which runs through all aspects of the production and life of the masses and is an important part of the construction of rural culture. In recent years, with the development of the times, folk culture has achieved its own renewal and reproduction in the context of modernisation, and has gradually revealed its potential value in rural society. So,what is the reproduction of folk culture? How does folk culture achieve reproduction? What is the relationship between the reproduction of folk culture and grassroots governance, and how does it participate in the construction of grassroots governance systems? This paper takes folk culture as an entry point, combines the theoretical perspective of cultural reproduction, and takes the example of Shangrao Shiren Township’s bench dragon activities, using field interviews to analyse the actual path of the reproduction of bench dragon folk culture. In the process of the development of folk culture, the bench dragon folk culture has developed from a daily custom of the villagers to an "intangible cultural heritage",and then gradually evolved into a cultural commodity under the market economy.State and market forces intervene and, with the combined effect of habitual adaptation, influence the subjective and objective network structure of folk culture and promote the reproduction of folk cultural capital. The transformation of folklore cultural resources into cultural capital and the reproduction of folklore culture is the result of the development of the times, and is an inevitable trend for effective rural governance. The current problems of rural hollowing out, cultural marginalisation and structural atomisation have created a dilemma in grassroots governance, while the embedding of folk culture provides new ideas for grassroots governance.Folk culture is a flexible force that promotes the construction of a governance system that integrates the three governance systems in the countryside. In the process of reproducing folk culture, cultural competence, awareness of rules and moral education are reshaped, promoting the construction of rural autonomy, rule of law and moral governance.Through the reproduction of cultural capital, folk culture materialises and cultivates villagers’ sense of self-governance;the reproduction of institutionalised cultural capital strengthens villagers’ thinking on the rule of law;the reproduction of objective cultural capital creates a favourable environment for the development of village moral governance, thus building a grassroots governance system that integrates the " three governance systems ".
