A Study On Teaching Chinese As A Foreign Language Of The Regret Discourse Marker "Xdeshi"

Based on the communication needs of real-life situations,this thesis reexamines the grammatical and pragmatic functions of the regret discourse marker"Xdeshi"(X的是)and redefines its form and meaning.From the perspective of grammar,the first chapter analyzes the constituent elements and the formal structure of "Xdeshi".Chapter II mainly discusses the pragmatic functions of the regret discourse marker "Xdeshi",including its subjective evaluation function,this part analyzes the enhancement and transition of "Xdeshi" in different contexts.When it comes to its focus-reminder function,it explores the speaker’s focus on direct results in speech and the reminders of indirect content.Lastly,in terms of its function of discourse organization,it discusses the role in foregrounding topics and how it contributes to the coherence of discourse.From the perspective of the comparison between English and Chinese,Chapter III is based on the bilingual corpus,analyzing the correspondence between English regretful expression and Chinese regretful utterance marker "Xdeshi",revealing the causes of the coding differences.Under the theoretical framework of "Trinitarian Grammar",Chapter IV provides instructional ideas for the teaching of the regret discourse marker "Xdeshi",taking into account the actual usage errors of the overseas students.Above all,the whole research has always been pedagogically oriented,aiming to help the learners understand the meaning and function of the regret discourse marker "Xdeshi" in Chinese.
