Against the backdrop of COVID-19 pandemic,traditional offline interpretation is faced with many constraints,while online interpretation becomes prevalent in most International conferences.In 2020,from Nov.29thto Nov.30th,the interpreter undertook the English-Chinese simultaneous interpreting task for the session of the 10thWorld Congress on Conductive Education,where she bore the responsibility to interpret the opening ceremony and speeches of three speakers.The following aspects were found on the analysis of transcription.1.Interpretation at night for adaptation to the impact of time difference from across-time zones consumed plenty of energy.2.It turned harder for interpreters to acquire speakers’original materials as neither the organizer nor the speaker was the clients.3.Visual aid,including power point slides,is a double-edged sword to SI.4.In SI with text,a balance of cognitive resources should be struck between listening(L)and Reading(R).5.Both Inter-linguistic and Intra-linguistic mode could co-exist in multilingual context.Guided by Gile’s Effort Model,cases will be analyzed to explore copying strategies in SI from three respects:preparation,the effect of visual aid and application of syntactic linearity.For background knowledge preparation,information including previous congresses,official website of the organizations and relevant documents should be taken into consideration.As for power point slides,it is recommended that overall comprehension on structure and marks on the slides should be emphasized.In SI with text,priority should be given to listening(L),while improper reliance on texts should be avoided.Furthermore,practices on syntactic linearity,affiliated with segmentation,conversion and other tactics should be enhanced,so as to ease cognitive load and ensure accuracy and fluency in interpretation.Above all,taken this as an opportunity,it is hoped that interpreters who want to know about relative realm can benefit from the thesis.
