| From November 29th,2020 to December 1st,2020,the 10thWorld Conference on Conductive Education(WCCE),on the theme of“The Conductor:Attitude,Occupation,Profession”,was held in Budapest,Hungary, with nearly 1,000 registered participants from 16 countries. It’s so lucky for the author to pass the simultaneous interpretation test to be a part of the online simultaneous interpreting team, which renders the author an opportunity to contribute to the rehabilitation of patients with cerebral palsy. The author transcribed the recording, analyzed the shortcomings and studied the gains of this practice after this conference. In this paper, case analysis is the highlight.Guided by the compensation strategies for interpreting proposed by the prominent scholar Xia Tingde, this thesis has shed light on the obstacles the author met and coping strategies employed during the online simultaneous interpretation. Many medical terminologies was included in this conference,so the author reckoned this practice quite challenging and made adequate pre-interpreting preparation, including making bilingual glossary charts, visiting the social center and making herself get acquainted with Hungarian accent. This report starts from the point to solve information loss and regards compensation strategies as the solution, namely, semantic compensation and grammatical compensation. The former includes amplification and generalization while the latter includes the compensation of words with passive meaning and words with plural meaning with examples to illustrate them, which can not only enrich the translation compensation theory but also provide a reference for interpreters who are interested in this field. |
