As Wuhu is the core city along the Yangtze River in Anhui Province, its booming economy brings about increasingly frequent foreign exchanges. The publicity of its commercial civilization can help the outside world better understand its commercial history and boost its market. This report is a Chinese-English translation report of Wuhu Commercial History. The translation material is provided by Wuhu Local Chronicle Office. It gives an introduction to the development of foreign trade wharf and various commercial activities in Wuhu after the reform and opening up.Because the translation material belongs to the informational text, the translator chooses the Skopos theory of Hans Vermeer to guide the translation practice. This paper analyzes the translation practice of Chapter Five in the book.At the lexical level, the source text involves many proper nouns,culture-loaded words and four-character words, the translator adopts multiple techniques of addition, subtraction and free translation, etc. At the syntactic level, there are a number of long sentences, the translator uses translation techniques such as division and restructuring. At the textual level, the translator uses two cohesive devices to make the translated text fluent, such as cohesion and coherence.Through this translation practice, the translator finds that translation techniques such as addition and subtraction can be flexibly adopted to enhance the readability of the translation for regional culture introduction.Besides, the translator hopes to further improve translation abilities by summarizing the C-E translation skills, and contributes to the cultural publicity of Wuhu.
