In addition to studying professional courses,international students in China also need language learning,and language learning is composed of culture,pronunciation,characters and other parts,Among them,culture is the most easily overlooked part.The culture mentioned here refers to Chinese culture.Regional culture,As an integral part of Chinese culture and the culture that international students are most in contact with in their daily lives,the status of regional culture is self-evident.To sum up,it can be seen that the position of regional culture teaching for international students in China is very important in language teaching.Zhenjiang is a famous cultural city with a history of over 3,000 years,and the attractiveness of its universities to international students has been increasing year by year in recent years,and the total number of international students has exceeded 3,000.Although universities have stepped up the training of international students in China and standardized the corresponding principles.However,the universities have not yet paid enough attention to the teaching of regional culture to international students,and have not yet fully met the learning needs of international students.The regional culture of Zhenjiang is the crystallization of its 3,000-year history and the core of the city’s vitality.Learning Zhenjiang regional culture can help international students in Zhenjiang to quickly understand the complete appearance of Zhenjiang,improve their interest in learning,relieve learning pressure,and eliminate cultural barriers,and even help them to integrate into the local cultural circle.It is because the acquisition of Zhenjiang regional culture is very important to the study life of international students in Zhenjiang.Therefore,after consulting relevant materials,the author divides Zhenjiang regional culture into five sections: dialect,food,folk customs,literature and art,and scenic spots and historical sites,and an in-depth study was conducted on the acquisition of Zhenjiang’s regional culture by international students through questionnaires and interviews.The questionnaire mainly uses multiple choice questions,ranking questions and etc to investigate the Zhenjiang’s regional culture acquisition of international students in Zhenjiang.In addition,the content was supplemented by transcripts of interviews with relevant faculty and students.Based on the survey results it is clear that there are many deficiencies in the study of regional culture for international students in Zhenjiang at present,It mainly includes four aspects of problems: the schools have an insufficient understanding of regional culture teaching,the inaccurate grasp of the framework of regional culture education by teachers,teaching materials are lack of content related to regional culture,and the difficulties in understanding regional culture for international students in Zhenjiang.In response to the problems,this article proposes corresponding improvements from four levels: schools,teachers,teaching materials,and international students,in order to help international students in Zhenjiang learn regional culture.
