Immersing in the Chinese language environment,Chinese people are unaware of gender words.Gender words are words with gender attributes or words that indicate“female/male”.There are three groups of prototypical gender words that are often used in Chinese – “nan,nü” “gong,mu” and “ci,xiong”.All three groups of words can distinguish between different genders,and most of their constituent words have similar meanings.However,Chinese learners’ mother tongue does not have specific words to differentiate between genders,which is very easy for Chinese learners to cause errors.To reduce errors,this thesis examines the gender errors in the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus 2.0 and explores the teaching design of gender words in the light of relevant theoretical knowledge.In the process of exploration,the thesis focuses on the matching and repetition of gender words in the Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Education,the New Practical Chinese Textbook,and the Developing Chinese,and summarizes the teaching contents based on the findings.Based on the findings,this thesis designs a detailed plan for teaching gender words,with a view to reducing learners’ errors through targeted teaching and providing a reference for the gender words teaching.The study found that the main types of gender word errors among Chinese learners were lexical meaning error,lexical nature error,collocation error,compound error and stylistic error.Through the analysis of the errors,we found that the learners’ gender errors were mainly in the areas of lexical meaning errors,part of speech errors and compounding errors.This finding provides a strong inspiration for teachers to teach Chinese gender words.Accordingly,this paper adopts the contrastive linking method and the radial vocabulary teaching method to design the teaching of gender words,and further reflects on the design.
