| This report selects the first speech of the summit to simulate C-E consecutive interpreting. After finishing this simulated interpreting project, the interpreter turned the speech into text and come up with interpreting strategies from the perspective of relevance theory accordingly.Although the speaker delivered a fluent and dynamic speech which is easy to understand, some difficulties still set barriers for the interpreter, such as professional terms, unclear logic, redundancy and so on.Those difficulties in this interpretation practice can be summed up as colloquial expressions and idioms, mismatch of encyclopedic information, information redundancy, incoherence, and implicit logic. To address the difficulties shown above, the author uses Relevance Theory to guide the interpreting practice.Relevance Theory emphasizes achieving the optimal relevance without spending gratuitous efforts. The report has found that as a listener, the interpreter needs to reason out the communicative intention of the speaker and then seek for the optimal relevance through combining his or her experience in terms of cognitive environment, encyclopedic knowledge, and other information. In this way,the minimal processing effort can be made by the listener to achieve the greatest contextual effect and effective interpretation communication. Therefore, this report combines theory and practice closely, putting forward the following strategies:substitution, supplementation, omission, semantic and logical reorganization and explicitization. It is hoped that this report can be useful exploration for Insuretech-related interpretation from the perspective of Relevance Theory in the future. |
