A Chinese Translation Practice Report Of Future Projection Of 2040

With the acceleration of economic globalization,the international exchange of scientific and technological information is becoming more and more frequent,and scientific and technological translation plays an increasingly important role in it.The self-translation material for this translation practice is taken from the book“Future projection of 2040” written by Chen Maozhen.It is a popular science information text with a wide audience and a calling function.Chapter 1 illustrates concrete examples of how technological development makes the future bright.After a lot of translation practice,I found that there are many proper nouns and technical terminologies in the source text,and the majority of sentences are short sentences,but the semantic correlation of the preceding and following sentences is strong,while many modifying long sentences are also a major feature.This translation practice report is guided by Peter Newmark’s theory of“semantic translation and communicative translation”,using case analysis and parallel text reference method,combined with the characteristics of the text,and conducts in-depth research from three aspects:title translation,vocabulary translation,and sentence translation.In terms of title,according to the forms and characteristics of the original text,I divides it into noun-ending titles and verb-ending titles.Under the guidance of semantic translation and communicative translation theory,the translation methods are mainly literal translation and libera translation,in order to preserve the language style and semantic content of the original text;in terms of vocabulary,I divides it into proper nouns and technology terminology,and strives to accurately convey the semantic information of the original text through the translation techniques of annotation method,adding words method and meaning extension;in terms of sentences,I divides them into short sentences and long sentences,and adopts the translation techniques of omission,division and mixed translation,and I follows the communicative translation theory to let readers better understand the content of the original text.In the process of combining theory and practice,I explores concrete and feasible translation techniques and methods,and practices the guiding role of Newmark’s theory on the translation of popular science texts.At the same time,by consulting and reading a large number of parallel texts,I enriches my professional knowledge in the fields of communication and medicine,and in order to accumulates experience and inspiration for future translation practice.
