Trust is of great significance to human social interaction and is a bridge of communication between individuals.When people meet for the first time,they can quickly infer their credibility from clues such as faces and voices.Although the research on credibility in the visual field has made great progress,there are still few studies on credibility based on auditory channels.A large body of evidence shows that credibility is a multimodal cognitive experience,and voice credibility also plays a crucial role in interpersonal communication.Among them,sound parameters play a central role in judging the reliability of speech.Therefore,this study will investigate the impact of speech rate and pitch changes on speech credibility,and initially explore its neural processing mechanism.In study 1,the speech credibility scoring task was used to ask subjects to rate the credibility of speech materials with different speaking rates and genders,and the effects of speech rate changes,speaker gender,and evaluator gender on speech credibility were studied accordingly.The results show that the gender of the evaluator has no significant effect on the reliability judgment.In addition,male voices received the highest confidence scores at moderate and 15%faster,while female voices received the highest confidence scores at moderate.Study 2 still used the speech credibility scoring task,while manipulating speech rate and pitch,to explore the comprehensive effect of the two on the perception of speech credibility,and to use ERP technology to examine individuals from classifying and identifying physical attributes of sounds to making credibility.The dynamic time course of judgment.Behavioral results showed that for male voices,the confidence scores for moderate and accelerated speech were significantly higher than those for slow speech;for female voices,the confidence score for moderate speech was significantly higher than that of slow speech rate score.In contrast,the effect of pitch on speech reliability was just the opposite,with the confidence score significantly lower when the pitch was raised than when the pitch was moderated and when the pitch was lowered.In addition,the interaction between speech rate and pitch was not significant.The ERP results showed that the amplitude of N1 induced by female voice was significantly larger than that of male voice.In addition,for male voices,increasing the speaking rate evoked a larger amplitude N1 component than slowing the speaking rate;while in the female voice condition,the moderate speaking rate evoked a larger amplitude N1 component than the slowing down.On the P2 component,changes in speech rate induced the same voice gender effect;in addition,the P2 amplitude increased with increasing speech rate.Finally,the main effect of pitch and the interaction between speech rate and pitch were not significant for either N1 or P2.The conclusions of this study are summarized as follows:(1)The overall speaking rate and reliability score are in an inverted "U" shape,and the medium or faster speaking rate is considered to be the most trustworthy.(2)Male voices with medium and fast speaking rates have the highest credibility scores,and female voices with medium speaking rates have the highest credibility scores.(3)Within a certain range,the reliability of speech decreases with the increase of pitch.(4)In the speech reliability score,the speech rate has a salient significance compared with the pitch.(5)Speech rate and pitch may have independent neural processing mechanisms in early acoustic cue analysis.
