Research On Medtner’s Reminiscence Sonata Op.38 No.1

As a famous Russian pianist,composer and educator,Nicolas Karlovich Medtner occupies an important position in the history of music culture in Russia and the world.His work Sonata Reminiscenza is the first of 38 works in Forgotten Melodies album,which adopts traditional creative techniques and is worth learning in theoretical analysis and performance.In this paper,the author analyzes the creative background,musical form,tonality and texture of this work by means of literature research and music analysis.From the performer’s point of view,the author studies the musical image,the use of pedals and the performance of the grace notes in this work with Performance Anaysis,and expounds how to shape the correct musical image,how to use pedals correctly and rigorously,and how to play grace notes correctly,so as to provide reference for the performers who play this work in the future.
