Genre Analysis And Writing Support System Construction Of Research Method In Management Papers

Academic papers are the major object for research achievements,and writing a paper is an important challenge for researchers.Many researchers achieve valuable results,but have trouble in writing.Based on the genre analysis theory,existing studies have analyzed the various parts of academic papers in terms of move and step to help researchers understand the communicative intentions recognized by the academic community and conveyed in each part of the papers.However,most of these studies are aimed at English academic papers,while genre analysis of Chinese papers in the field of management is lacking.As research methodology is an important part for the overall structure of research papers,this paper intends to start with the research method and conduct a genre analysis of Chinese research papers in the field of management.In addition,the existing support systems for writing academic papers lack specific guidance for writers in terms of move and step level.Therefore,the key problem to be solved in this paper is how to build a writing support system for the research methods section of Chinese research papers in the field of management.In order to solve this problem,firstly,based on genre analysis theory,this paper selects authoritative journals in the field of management to conduct a detailed move and step analysis.Relevant research data are taken from some journals that use questionnaire survey method and grounded theory as research methods.The composition of move and step and frequency of their occurrence are summarized.Then,the sentences corresponding to each move and step in the paper are counted for the researcher’s reference in writing.Finally,the writing support system for the research methods section of the paper is constructed by design science research method,and 30 participants are recruited to use and evaluate the system.Results show that:(1)The research method section of the papers using the questionnaire survey method contains nine moves.The nine moves are questionnaire development,variable measurement,data collection,data analysis methods,reliability testing,error resolution,descriptive statistics and correlation analysis,model fit testing,and hypothesis testing.The six compulsory moves are variable measurement,data collection,reliability testing,error resolution,model fit testing,and hypothesis testing,while questionnaire development,data analysis methods,and descriptive statistics and correlation analysis are optional;(2)The research method section of the papers using the grounded theory contains five moves and several steps.The five moves are research method and ideas,sample selection,data collection,data collation,data analysis.Except that data collation is optional,the other four moves are compulsory.(3)The specific move and step and corresponding sentences in the academic writing support system can provide reference for users,further improve the writing efficiency and reduce the writing troubles.
