| This paper takes the self-portraits in the works of western female artists in the mid-20th century as an example of how female artists shed the traditional male to female perspective,so as to achieve a female artist to observe and stare at themselves.Focused on Suzanne Varadon,Cassie Colerhuizzi,Yuliang Pan and Frida Kahlo.The main task is to explore the history of female self-portrait art under certain historical conditions in the 20th century.These four female artists are the most representative female artists of the same period in different countries,and analyze and compare their self-portrait works by introducing their social history,cultural background and life experiences.This paper analyzes and compares the life experiences and self-portraits of Yuliang Pan and Frida Kahlo,as well as Cassie Colerhuizzi and Suzanne Varadon.Found that while in real life,they don’t really seem to intersect,there are so many similarities in their work.Here are the next steps in my quest.First of all,the life experiences of Cathy Colerhuizi and Suzanne Varadon,as well as Yulliang Pan and Frida Kahlo,are analyzed.Secondly,the author analyzes the main features of the four self-portrait works of art,expounding them in detail in terms of subject matter,style,content and technique.By analyzing and comparing the artistic style,life experience and cultural background of the four women,the author concludes that all four female self-portrait artists not only embody female characteristics in their work,but also have a strong sense of self.Through the in-depth interpretation and study of the works of the four artists,it can be found that their self-portraits are the products of changing times. |
