As a Chinese avant-garde contemporary composer,Professor Jia Daqun combined traditional and modern composition techniques to create symbolic national tones in Rhapsody:The Soul of Liyuan Opera. He utilized the traditional music elements of Northwestern China as the material. The theme tone has the characteristic of diffuseness in the development process. The theme melody plays a decisive role in the division of the musical structure.Under the thinking of horizontal multi-voice line thinking and multiple textures, this work has rich textures, and the characteristics of sound integration are particularly prominent.Under the guidance of pentatonic mode thinking, the composer expanded the pentatonic vertical chord structure and added dissonant to collide with it to form a chromatic mixed chord structure. In the diversification of voices, the collision of different intervals and chord structures in the vertical direction creates a unique harmonic form.In the process of presentation of music, influenced by the characteristics of traditional Chinese music,a presentation structure with national characteristics is formed. The use of derivative structures has become the structural feature of this piece, which greatly reflects the characteristics of the musical genre of Rhapsody.Combining all of the above features, the reproduction of the complex quadruple structure becomes the result of the generation of the form. This paper takes Jia Daqun’s large-scale national orchestra "Rhapsody·Liyuan Opera Soul" as the research object, discussed the generation process and results of the musical form of the work from five aspects: work background information, the theme tone, the texture form, the mode harmony, and the musical form structure, and summarize the creative characteristics of this work.
