The English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011)stipulated in language education knowledge: learning English phonetics includes learning linking,rhythm,pause,intonation,etc.There teacher should attach great importance to teaching English linking to pupils.In order to explore the integrating visual,aural and oral approaches on pupils’ English linking capacity,this study,combining the integrating visual,aural and oral approaches,aims to answer the following questions:1.What effects can the integrated visual,aural and oral approaches have on the English linking reading ability of primary school students? 2.How to apply integrated visual,aural and oral approaches to cultivate pupils’ English linking capacity ?In this study,one natural class in the sixth grade of a primary school were selected as the research objects.And the action research of three months was conducted in two rounds according to the school’s teaching practice.This study collected data through tests,interviews and teaching logs,and analyzed the data with SPSS 22.0.The research found that: Firstly,the integrating visual,aural and oral approaches can help improve students’ English linking ability,which is manifested in the enhancement of students’ English linking awareness,and the improvement on visual recognition,auditory recognition and English linking output.Secondly,the integrating visual,aural and oral approaches should be implied with diversified teaching activities to cultivate students English linking capacity.Among them,visual recognition teaching mainly focuses on marking the phenomenon of English linking,and auditory recognition teaching mainly focuses on listening comparison,listening to audio,listening and imitation,listening and repeating,listening and questioning,etc.The multimodal output activities effectively combined with hearing recognition and visual recognition are songs practicing,drum-and-pass game,and communicative practicing by watching videos.The results of this study are helpful to improve pupils’ recognition and output of English linking,and provide a reference for teachers in cultivating pupils’ English linking capacity. |
