Analysis Of National Customs In Fedotov's Painting

Fedotov created a new artistic mode in his short artistic career-painting with Russian national style.His painting creation principles influenced the creation of Russian realistic national painting from the second half of the 19 th century to the 20 th century,and played a connecting role in the creation of Russian national style painting.Russian painting has strong national characteristics and occupies an important position in the development history of world painting art.Russian painting has gradually got rid of the shackles of religion and turned to secularization since the 10th-17 th century.In particular,the reform of Peter the great in the 18 th century and the awakening of Russian national consciousness in the 19 th century have greatly promoted the development of Russian national painting.In this special period,criticizing the current disadvantages and paying attention to the people’s livelihood have become the driving force of artists’ creation,and the social life of the bottom people has become the source of artists’ creation.This social environment has laid the foundation and created conditions for the formation and development of Russian national painting.The 19 th century was the peak period of the development of Russian literature and art.At that time,world-class literary and artistic masters were cultivated,such as Tolstoy,Gogol,Lebin,Surikov and so on.Fedotov was the pioneer and guide of painting in that era.He took reflecting the suffering of the people’s livelihood as his own responsibility and became the pioneer to achieve this goal.His works truly showed the spiritual outlook of the people living under the rule of the Czar in the 19 th century.His creative concept and style had a significant impact on the development of Russian national painting in the future.This paper starts with "ethnic customs",combs the formation,exploration and development process of Fedotov’s ethnic customs,and focuses on the early and mature ethnic customs paintings.It includes the following four chapters:The first chapter expounds the reasons for the formation of ethnic customs in Fedotov’s paintings.The formation of ethnic customs in Fedotov’s paintings is caused by various factors and has a sense of the times;The second chapter is a specific analysis of the ethnic customs in Fedotov’s paintings,based on the early and mature painting creation,starting with the details of the characters’ costumes and props in the painter’s paintings,to interpret the typicality of the ethnic customs in Fedotov’s paintings;In the third chapter,the value and influence of Fedotov’s Russian national style paintings are proved through the evaluation of Russian masters and the works of later painters.The fourth chapter is the inspiration of Fedotov’s painting creation concept to my creation.Fedotov’s creation concept of "life is my teacher" has greatly inspired my painting creation,and thus found the direction of my personal painting creation.I took contemporary rural farmers as my creation theme,expressing my love for the local customs of my nation.
