The Tang Dynasty was the heyday of music and dance art in the Western Regions.When the music and dance culture continued its ethnic art,it also absorbed the influence of central plains,Uighur,Persian and Indian cultures for the new climax on the artistic level.Its costume features showed two forms:the characteristics of the western regions and the integration of diverse cultures.In view of the complex performance of music and dance costumes and the comprehensive characteristics of ancient Chinese music and dance art in the western regions,this paper takes semiotics as the main theoretical system,supplemented by the relevant theories and methods of typology and communication,also combines historical documents,image data and unearthed objects for analysis.On the basis of previous studies,it systematically analyzes the characteristics and cultural connotations of music and dance costumes in Tang Xizhou period of Xinjiang Section of the Silk Road.This paper is divided into seven chapters for discussion.The first chapter is the introduction,which proposes the topic,summarizes the research status of music and dance costumes in the Western Regions,forms the research framework and ideas,then analyzes the innovation points.The second chapter clarifies the origin of music and dance costumes in the Tang Xizhou period.It analyzes the influence of geography,history and humanity on costume culture of music and dance in the Western Regions,then identifies music and dance images unearthed in Xinjiang section of the Silk Road.The third chapter is "The classification of music and dance costumes in the Tang Xizhou period",which is divided into three categories:social life,court entertainment and religion,then classifies the music and dance costumes in the Tang Dynasty documents.The fourth chapter is "Types and characteristics of music and dance costumes in Tang Xizhou Period".According to the categories of music and dance costumes,it is divided into two parts:"Daily costumes and special design and production by folk craftsmen in Western Regions",then summarizes the artistic characteristics of music and dance costumes.The fifth chapter is about the types and meanings of music and dance costume symbols in Western Regions in Tang Xizhou Period.It discusses the classification,formation and implication on cultural symbols of music and dance costume according to the theoretical knowledge of semiotics.The sixth chapter is "coding and decoding of western regions music and dance dress symbols in Tangxi Period".Based on the theoretical knowledge of coding and decoding in communication science,it analyzes the generation,influencing factors and decoding of the visual symbols of western regions music and dance costumes.The seventh chapter is the conclusion.Music and dance costume is a branch of costume art,which mainly expresses the theme and drama,as a bridge between actors and their "roles".This paper analyzes the music and dance costumes in the Western Regions of the Tang Dynasty,which is a beneficial supplement to the overall study of the costumes in the Western Regions,with important theoretical and practical significance,especially in the present study of the silk road ethnic costumes.
