| A total of 50 small Han tombs were excavated in the eleventh block of Banqiao Xincheng,Nanjing.Pottery is the main burial vessel,and glazed pottery is an important component of it.The unearthed glazed potteries have a hard body,an extra layer of turquoise half glaze is applied to the surface of the ware,its regular body is made by pottery wheel,and the decoration methods are various.The combination of utensils are mainly Ding,Box,Bu,Pot and Jar,but there are some differences among tombs.This article analyzes the five types of artifacts through typology to explore their regulation of development and evolution.At the same time,it compares them with the types of glazed pottery unearthed in Han tombs in the surrounding area,and then divides the tombs into five periods,namely,the early Western Han Dynasty,the middle Western Han Dynasty,and the mid-West Han Dynasty,Late Western Han Dynasty,Xinmang Period,Early Eastern Han Dynasty.After sorting out the placement of glazed potteries and other potteries unearthed from single tombs and joint tombs in this cemetery,it’s found that there are some rules in the placement of potteries in single tombs,while in the joint burial tombs,the differences in the arrangement of the objects of the male and female tomb owners are shown.This article also compares the placement of glazed pottery in this cemetery with that of Han tombs in Nanjing,other parts of Jiangsu,and Zhejiang.Compared with the Han tombs in the Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Anhui regions,the glazed potteries unearthed from the 11th Han tomb in Banqiao Xincheng has similarities and differences in quantity,combination of utensils,and type characteristics.In addition,such glazed pottery was also found in Han tombs in Shandong,Central Plains,and Guanzhong areas,and most of them were concentrated near the main lines of water transportation(including sea transportation).The prosperous economy of the Han Dynasty,convenient transportation,and the close relationship between the historical and cultural traditions of the regions provided conditions for the spread of glazed pottery,making the long-distance spread of glazed pottery possible. |
