| "Emotion and will" is the core concept of Chinese medicine’s theory of spirit and will,and is an important manifestation of human life activities.However,in modern Chinese medicine theory,the definition of the basic concept of emotion and the mechanism of its occurrence is not yet clear and perfect.Tracing the origin of the term "emotion and will" and its specific content of happiness,anger,sadness,pity,fear,and panic,there are many expositions in the preQin and Han literature.Therefore,it is of great significance to examine the literal origin and connotation of emotions based on the literature of the pre-Qin and Han dynasties,and to explore the principle of the occurrence of emotions based on the interpretation of Huangdi Neijing,in order to improve the theory of emotions in Huangdi Neijing and to guide the clinical practice.1 Purpose of the studyTo analyze the original meaning of the words "emotion" and "will" and the related words"joy,anger,worry,thought,grief,fear,and fright".To explore the physiological and pathological understanding of the occurrence of emotions in the Huangdi Neijing and clarify the core mechanism of the occurrence of emotions in the Huangdi Neijing.2 Research methodThis study mainly adopts the methods of documentary exegesis and meaning analysis to interpret,sort out and analyze the relevant contents based on the literature related to emotion and spirit in the pre-Qin and Han dynasties and the original text of the Huangdi Neijing,combined with the exegetical play of later medical scholars and modern psychological understanding.3 Research findings3.1 Emotion-related word meaning examination and concept interpretation(1)The connotation of emotion and will in the literature of the pre-Qin and Han dynasties is not consistent with the connotation of emotion and will in modern psychology.The word"Qing" originally means the quality of all things,and the connotation of Qing is the inherent quality of all things.The word "Zhi" is originally the meaning of the heart’s direction,and the connotation of Zhi is the outgrowth and shaping of the nature of all things in the future.(2)Joy,anger,sorrow,grief and fear are all emotional activities that arise from the cognitive evaluation of external stimuli based on subjective needs.The word joy originally means joyfulness,and the connotation of joy is a happy,beautiful inner experience that arises from the satisfaction of the needs of the creature by nature;the word anger originally means resentment,and the connotation of anger is an internal experience of resentment and injustice arising from the violation of a creature’s natural needs;the word worry originally means sorrow,and the connotation of worry is a feeling of sorrow and distress,worrying and thinking that arises when a creature is unable to realize its own desires or faces a situation that is closely related to its own interests;the word grief originally means sorrow,which connotes a feeling of grief and sorrow when a creature is faced with a situation that is contrary to its inner vision or when its own concerns and interests are damaged;the word fear originally means fear,which connotes a feeling of panic,fear and worry when a creature is faced with a situation in which the interests related to the thing it is interested in may be damaged.(3)Thinking is the cognitive activity of human beings.The word think originally means to think,and the connotation of think is the process of processing and processing information through the consciousness of thinking,that is,the cognitive process,and because in the cognitive activity is often accompanied by the evaluation of their own needs,and then produce emotional activities,and therefore can express a variety of emotional processes and similar to worry.(4)Fright is a state in which a person is disturbed at the primary stage of cognitive activity,resulting in a state of inner turmoil.The word fright originally means panic,and the connotation of fright is a state of shock and panic that arises when the cognitive state is disturbed in the face of unexpected situations or situations beyond the scope of cognition,often combined with fear.(5)The Huangdi Neijing has inherited the understanding of emotion,will,joy,anger,worry,thought,grief,fear,and fright from the literature of the pre-Qin and Han dynasties.3.2 Physiological and pathological positioning of the emotions and the mechanism of their occurrenceBased on the three core elements of form,spirit and external objects,the Huangdi Neijing explains the mechanism of the seven emotions from five levels:the movement of essence,the structure of the physical body,the evil of yin and yang,the spirit and spirit,and the social environment.The seven emotions are the seven emotional changes that occur as a result of external stimulation of the mind and spirit,based on the qi of the five organs.The seven emotions cause disease as a continuation of the seven emotions,so the level of injury and the basis of occurrence are basically the same.(1)Joy originates from the qi of the heart,the danzhong and the pericardium affect the occurrence of joyful emotions;too much joyful emotions hurt the heart and yang qi.(2)Anger originates from the qi of the liver,the heart,liver and gallbladder affect the occurrence of anger,anger pathology is mostly due to Yang Qi is depressed,primitive and brave people are good at anger,timid people are difficult to anger,Yang Sheng is easy to resolve anger,Yin Sheng is easy to anger,cognitive regulation of the occurrence of anger,anger too much damage to the liver,kidney and spleen.(3)Worry originates from the qi of the lungs,the heart and liver affect the occurrence of sadness,people with a wood type body type are more worried,and too much sadness hurts the lungs,heart and spleen.(4)Thinking originates from the qi of the spleen,and thinking is based on the heart,spleen and kidney;too much thinking hurts the heart and spleen.(5)Grief originates from the qi of the lungs,the heart,kidney and lung are involved in the vital phenomena caused by grief.The lung,liver and heart influence the occurrence of grief;the Feiyang chakra,the Foot Yangming Stomach meridian,the Foot Conjunctive Yin Liver meridian and the Foot Shao Yin meridian influence the occurrence of grief by affecting the essence of the corresponding internal organs;too much grief injures the lung,liver and heart pericardium.(6)Fear originates from the qi of the kidney,and people with strong yin or weak qi and blood are more afraid.The kidney,heart,liver,lung and gallbladder all affect the occurrence of fear,and the foot Shao-Yin kidney meridian,the foot Turk-Yin liver meridian,the Xie and Fei Yang veins affect the occurrence of fear by influencing the qi of the relevant internal organs.(7)People with Yang and Blood deficiency are often frightened,and the heart,soul and liver are frightened when they are damaged.The Heart meridian of the Shao-Yin hand,the Stomach meridian of the Yang Ming foot,the Spleen meridian of the Tai-Yin foot and the Liver meridian of the Convulsive Yin foot affect the occurrence of fright by influencing the essence of the relevant viscera. |
