Purpose:Based on the previous clinical research results, this study will mainly explore the effect of seaweed in combination with licorice on iodine escape in normol thyroid rats, and provide experimental basis for clinical application of this combination in the treatment of thyroid diseases.Material and method:Wistar rats were randomly divided into 56 normal control(NC),56 potassium iodide group(IG),56 seaweed group(SG),and 8 seaweed licorice group(SLG).NC was given 2ml of double distilled water every day for two weeks;IG was given 2ml of potassium iodide solution with a concentration of 0.45mg/ml every day for two weeks;SG was given 2ml of seaweed granule solution every day for two weeks.SLG was given seaweed granule solution for 2 weeks, and then changed to seaweed: licorice at a compatibility ratio of5:1 and then continued to give it another week.In the first 24 hours(day 0)without treatment factors,12 hours,1 day,2 days,3 days,7 days,14 days, and 21 days after gavage,8 rats were taken from each group. The blood iodine level of rats in each group was measured by ICP-MS method, and the expression of thyroid NIS protein was measured by western-blot method. Results:Compared with IG at each time point,SG except that the serum iodine level on day 1 was higher than IG(P<0.05);the serum iodine level at other time points was lower than IG on average(P<0.05);Comparison of serum iodine levels at each time point of SG,SG2 days and SG14 days were not statistically significant(P>0.05);SG3 days,SG14 days, and SLG21 days were not statistically significant(P>0.05);the remaining SG groups were serum at each time point There were significant differences in iodine levels(P<0.01).The comparison of serum iodine levels at each time point of SG is as follows: SG1 day>SG7days>SG3 days>SG21 days>SG14 days>SG2 days>SG0 days.Comparison of serum iodine levels at each time point of IG,there was no significant difference between IG1 day and IG14day(P>0.05),IG2 day,IG3 day,and IG7 day serum iodine level had no significant difference(P>0.05),IG serum iodine at other time points There are significant differences in levels(P<0.01).The comparison of serum iodine levels at each time point of IG is as follows: IG 2days> IG 3 days> IG 7 days> IG 14 days> IG 1 day> IG 0 days.Compared with each time point of IG,the protein level of NIS at each time point after SG drug intervention was lower than that of IG(P<0.05).NC3 days and IG3 days were not statistically significant(P>0.05);NC14 days and IG14 days were not statistically significant(P>0.05);the NIS protein expression levels after drug intervention were as follows: 12h: IG>NC>SG;1day :IG>SG>NC;2 days: NC>IG>SG;3 days: NC>SG>IG;7 days: IG>NC>SG;14 days:IG>NC>SG;SLG21 days>SG14 days.Conclusion:1.The combination of seaweed and licorice 5:1 can increase the expression of NIS protein in rats.Compared with seaweed alone, iodine escape is less likely to occur.2.Compared with potassium iodide, seaweed is less prone to iodine escape in normal thyroid function rats.
