In order to investigate the effect of soybean meal replacement by fermented corn gluten meal(FCGM)on nutritional manipulation of fattening sheep,a single-factor test design was used.A total of 48 Small Tailed Han and Australian white sheep crossbred F1 sheep with an average body weight of 33.81 ± 0.45 kg(4 months old)were randomly divided into 4 groups with 12 replicates per group. In control,25%,50% and 75% groups,0%,25%,50% and 75% soybean meal in basal diet were replaced by FCGM respectively, and the concentrate to roughage ratio was 7:3.The experiment lasted for 70 days, including a 10-day pre-experiment period and a60-day trial period.Te effect of FCGM on growth performance, slaughter performance, serum antioxidant capacity, and ruminal fermentation parameters in fattening sheep were determined. The results showed:(1)Throughout the trial period,FCGM had no significant effect on the ADFI of fattening sheep(P>0.05).From 31 to 60 days, the ADG of 25% group fattening sheep increased by 26.5%compared with the control group(P<0.05).During the whole period, the F/G of all the experimental groups was lower than the control group. The apparent digestibilities of GE and CP in the 25% group were significantly higher than that of in the control group and other experimental groups(P<0.05).The apparent digestibility of NDF in the 25% group and 50%group were significantly higher than that of in the control group(P<0.05).The ADF in each experimental groups was significantly higher than that of in the control group(P<0.05).(2)The carcass weight and slaughter rate of 25% group were significantly higher the control group(P<0.05).The a* and b* values in the 25% group at 45 min were significantly higher than other groups(P<0.05).The L* value at 24 h of the 75% group was significantly higher than that of the 25% group and 50% group(P<0.05).The b* value, sheer force, cooking loss, and dripping loss of each experimental group were significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The water content in the muscles of the 50% group and 75% group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05),but the EE content was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).(3)The ruminal pH value of the 75% group was significantly higher than that of other groups(P<0.05).The ruminal ammonia nitrogen content of the 25% group and 50% group were significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).The butyric acid content of the 50%group and 75% group were significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).(4)At the 30 th day of the experiment, the GLB content of the 25% group was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05);the contents of Cr and GSH in each experimental group were significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The contents of Cr and GSH in each experimental group were significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The GPT content in the 25% group and 50% group were significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).At the 60 th day of the experiment, the content of TP in the 25% group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),and the GLB content in the serum of each experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The content of Cr in 75% group was significantly higher than that in the control group and 25% group(P<0.05),the contents of GSH and AST in each experimental groups were significantly lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The content of GPT of 50% group and 75% group were significantly higher than that of the control group and the 25% group(P<0.05).(5)At the 30 th d of the experiment period, the GSH-Px activity of the 25% group and 75%group were significantly higher than that of the 50% group and the control group(P<0.05).At60 th d of the experiment period, the T-AOC and GSH-Px of the 25% group and 50% group were significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),and the MDA content of 25% group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).In conclusion, adding 25% FCGM to replace an equal amount of soybean meal in the diet ocould improve the growth of fattening sheep, increase the utilization rate of feed, improve the quality of mutton, and enhance the ruminal fermentation and the health of the fattening sheep.
