Zhu Xi is not only the epitome of the Song Dynasty, but also the epitome of Confucianism after Confucius. In his long-term academic research and teaching practice,he formed a unique system of philosophy, aesthetics and neo-confucianism,which had an important impact on the history of Chinese thought.Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism aesthetics has deeply influenced the aesthetic consciousness and ideal of the Chinese nation at that time and in the future, artistic fashion and creation, literary criticism and paradigm.Under Zhu Xi’s strict Neo-Confucianism system,Zhu Xi also published a philosophical music theory related to music, which includes both epistemology, that is,the understanding of the origin, development and nature of music,as well as the methodology to guide music practice, that is,the role of music and what kind of music to develop, which is also very worthy of our attention.Through the review of Zhu Xi’s works and other people’s literature on Zhu Xi’s thoughts and treatises,as well as the in-depth collation and excavation of some data, and through the analysis of the relevant research status at home and abroad,it is found that the existing written records of Zhu Xi’s musical philosophy have formed a relatively systematic musical philosophy. The academic value of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianist music philosophy research is very high, but its in-depth and comprehensive academic research can not meet the current cultural needs.Judging from the current academic library, there is still a lack of articles that dig deeply into Zhu Xi’s musical philosophy and make a fair and objective evaluation of its position in history. This article takes Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism music philosophy as the research object, and aims to enrich Zhu Xi’s philosophy and aesthetic system research, strive to add a monument to Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism research, and also provide a new content for the development of traditional Chinese music philosophy. To sum up,this paper consists of four parts: the theoretical basis of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianist music philosophy, the internal logic of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianist music philosophy, the theoretical core of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianist music philosophy, and the value significance of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianist music philosophy. The introduction mainly focuses on the reason for the topic selection, research significance, research summary, research methods and innovation. The text is analyzed and discussed in four chapters: The first chapter looks for the theoretical basis of the formation of Zhu Xi’s musical philosophy thought through combing Zhu Xi’s personal experience and the source of his philosophical thought; The second chapter analyzes the internal logic of Zhu Xi’s music philosophy by sorting out the categories of his Neo-Confucianism,mainly focusing on the four aspects of Li Qi theory, the theory of seeking knowledge from nature, the theory of mind and desire, and the theory of dynamic and static observation. The four basic philosophical categories here also provide the theoretical core of the musical philosophy in the third chapter with the paradigm of music in the philosophical system. The third chapter mainly discusses the theoretical core of the musical philosophy formed by the four aspects: the noumenon of music, the function of music, the neutralization of music, and the elegance and popularity of music. The "noumenon of music" refers to the explanation of the ultimate existence mode and form of music, and this issue is the most fundamental issue in the theory of music aesthetics. The "noumenon of music" is also a controversial issue among scholars of music aesthetics at all times and at all times. In Zhu Xi’s music philosophy of Neo-Confucianism,the function of music is an epistemological attitude, which explains the function of music.Zhu Xi stressed that the practical function of music is based on the requirements of etiquette. In Zhu Xi’s music philosophy of Neo-Confucianism,the neutralization of music explains the nature of music and plays an important role in the construction of the whole music philosophy system of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism.The elegance and vulgarity of music means the distinction of elegance and vulgarity of music, which explains the aesthetic standard of music philosophy in Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianism music philosophy system. The fourth chapter explores the value and significance of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianist music philosophy on the basis of the first three parts. Finally,on the basis of the above discussion, the conclusion summarizes the influence and enlightenment of Zhu Xi’s Neo-Confucianist music philosophy. The neutralization concept of moral education and aesthetic education in Zhu Xi’s music philosophy, the concept of the development of etiquette and music in a harmonious society, and the aesthetic standards of music all provide us with many reference values and significance in today’s society.
