The phenomenon of left-behind children is a unique social phenomenon in the process of China’s economic development. In the context of the massive influx of rural laborers to work in cities,left-behind children may have adverse effects on their mental health due to the long-term lack of direct parental care and education, and finding appropriate ways to address these adverse effects is crucial to the future development of left-behind children. This paper takes left-behind children in rural areas as the research object, takes hope sense as the research variable, and further explores the relationship between hope sense and growth mindset, intentional self-regulation and family cultural capital on the basis of understanding the current situation of hope sense of left-behind children. The purpose of this paper is to enrich the research on hope sense and provide empirical support for future studies,as well as to guide schools and society to pay attention to the hope sense of leftbehind children in rural areas. The growth mindset scale, family cultural capital scale, intentional self-regulation scale and sense of hope scale were used to investigate the leftbehind children, and SPSS22.0 and Mplus8.0 were used to analyze the data. The results of the study are as follows:(1)The current growth mindset, intentional self-regulation,and sense of hope of leftbehind children in rural areas are at a moderate to high level.(2)Current rural children’s growth-oriented thinking and sense of hope are influenced by grade level, and whether they stay behind, and intentional self-regulation is influenced by grade level.(3)All variables were significantly and positively correlated except for family cultural capital and growth mindset, which were not significantly correlated.(4)Growth mindset positively predicted hope, and intentional self-regulation partially mediated the effect, while family cultural capital moderated the first half of the overall model. Therefore, this study concludes that the level of growth mindset of rural left-behind children affects their sense of hope, and the higher the level of growth mindset, the higher the sense of hope;in addition, growth mindset will further increase the level of hope by improving the intentional self-regulation of rural left-behind children, and increasing the stock of family cultural capital will enhance the influence of growth mindset on intentional self-regulation.
